I’m not sure I agree completely with Ben Carson on that – as far as I’ve heard, the component price of produce having to do with labor is about 10%. So DOUBLING the wages you pay someone would only mean a 10% raise in the price of tomatoes. Would Americans be willing to pick tomatoes if they were paid $15-$20 an hour? I have a feeling they would.

IF we had teachers who taught arithmetic, Music and Art, we’d be ahead of our down trending scientific/engineering/medical curve. These 3 classes in the lower grades teach thinking processes. These classes used to be taught in the lower grades to help students think.

Guest Worker may not be amnesty, but what about this Carson quote?
“Is it moral for us, for example, to take advantage of cheap labor from illegal immigrants while denying them citizenship? I’m sure you can tell from the way I phrased the question that I believe we have taken the moral low road on this issue. Some segments of our economy would virtually collapse without these undocumented workers—we all know that—yet we continue to harass and deport many individuals who are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their families.”

Cruz is talking about H1-B visa workers, not all immigrants. Sheesh! Those are temporary visas, limited to 3 years.

I remember something like that in Kansas, with one of the very few ICE raids under W.
Wages drop when illegals take over an industry - 75% of immigrants, legal and illegal, get some sort of government handout. So when they get wages under the table plus handouts, they do quite well. And employers make more profits.
Wages had dropped at the Kansas chicken processing plant over the years, so when the illegals left, the plant couldn’t get Americans to take the jobs. When they increased the wages, they got all the employees they wanted.
They would work the harder jobs if they weren’t paid more to NOT work than to work!
That entire foreigner import program needs to be trashed. Or at least dramatically downsized with the numbers of foreigners being imported significantly reduced.

Carson may be speaking what liberals perceive as the truth, but the only place what he says is "unpopular" is amongst conservatives.
