In 2013, more than 200,000 people on net fled states with Democrat governors for ones run by Republicans, according to an analysis of newly released IRS data by Americans for Tax Reform.
"People move away from high tax states to low tax states. Every tax refugee is sending a powerful message to politicians," said ATR President Grover Norquist. "They are voting with their feet. Leaders in Texas and Florida are listening. New York and California are not."
That year, Democrat-run states lost a net 226,763 taxpayers, bringing with them nearly $15.7 billion in adjusted gross income (AGI). That same year, states with Republican governors gained nearly 220,000 new taxpayers, who brought more than $14.1 billion in AGI with them.
Only one-third of states with Democrat governors gained taxpayers, compared to three-fifths of states with Republican governors.
Top 5 loser states for Democrat governors in 2013:
· New York (114,929 people with $5.7 billion in AGI)
· Illinois (68,943 people with $3.8 billion in AGI)
· California (47,458 people with 3.8 billion in AGI)
· Connecticut (14,453 people with $1.8 billion in AGI)
· Massachusetts (11,915 people with $1 billion in AGI)
Top 5 winner states for Republican governors in 2013:
· Texas (152,912 people with $6 billion in AGI)
· Florida (74,094 people with 8.3 billion in AGI)
· South Carolina (29,176 people with 1.6 billion in AGI)
· North Carolina (26,207 people with $1.5 billion in AGI)
· Arizona (16,549 people with $1.5 billion in AGI)

...and promptly going to work to turn THOSE states in to democrat states.
Be interesting to know whether the Florida numbers include Puerto Ricans migrating to the mainland. If not, the numbers for that state are even greater.
Yep. Taking their nasty voting habits with them.
Yeah, they leave the state because of high taxes and STILL vote Democrat in their new states. I’m moving to SC from PA after my kids get out of school because I’m tired of my vote being meaningless.
I don’t welcome them. I’ve had to deal with Yanks for years and so many of them are a**holes.. Its as if there’s something in the water that makes them that way. Most I’ve dealt with are unfriendly and hostile except for a few states that have been okay like NJ and MI. No offense meant to FR’pers from those regions. You are the exception to the rule. Just relating my personal experience with the liberal jerksin those regions. I just don’t want milions of them pouring into my state and destroying its spirit.
Losers!
You kidding me? They’re bringing their lefty philosophies with them and turn red states blue. Look at Texas. They’re like cockroaches. Public parasites that destroy good America the same way the black plague annihilated most of Europe. .
Just as massive numbers of immigrants from failed third-world hell-holes bring their corrupt culture with them, so, too do, refugees from liberal-run states. They want their tax-payer funded recreation, and strange and exotic food stuffs and avant-garde art.
Then the parasites and the predators will follow the herd, because the useless cannot make it on their own, and have no incentive to try.
AMEN! I have seen more out of state plates from failing liberal hellholes during Zero’s tenure in office than I have in the prior 20+years in Texas.. Worse than that, these same morons continue to vote DemocRAT. Turned Dallas County blue in the last few elections. I also blame Perry for that, as he welcomed too much of the trash from New Orleans to Texas with open arms. We are still paying for that colossial mistake more than a decade later.
What makes me sick is that they made their states red and allowed their freedoms to be wrecked and now they can’t tolerate what their states have become. Too bad. Stay they and fix things because if you come down South you will bring your nasty, ungodly attitudes and voting habits with you.

...
That’s been happening for almost a century.
Not in all cases.
Lots of CA residents are moving to OR/WA
They’ll move just fine, but when they get wherever they’re going, they’ll vote in the same people, and wonder why the same thing is happening.
It’s a lot like that EPA managed min spill.
Kind of like bad tenants who destroy their surrounding then can’t stand the mess THEY created and want to move.
They move to a new pristine spot and commence ruining it.
I actually live in Upstate NY and can’t STAND all the regs and laws that trample personal property rights, etc. My grown children have moved away. Albeit one is somewhat leftist and moved to Southern PA with her husband. My son who is in the Air Force is currently living near Buffalo but fully intends after he gets married to move South. He is as conservative as they come! (oh and he is half black—is going for a math degree, is on the dean’s list with a 3.92 GPA and just made Staff Sgt—must make liberal heads SPIN)
Unfortunately they then try to remake their new state in the image of the socialist state that they fled.
I suspect many of them are retirees... But, that doesn’t change the message. As soon as they are FREE to move, they do it.

I can’t blame for wanting to move from those hell holes and the high taxes but they need to leave the Yank atttitude in their state...: )
