HOUSTON, Texas U.S. Sen. Cruz, R-Texas, today released the following statement regarding the arrest of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis:
Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.
I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court opinion.
In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts rightly observed that the Courts marriage opinion has nothing to do with the Constitution. Justice Scalia observed that the Courts opinion was so contrary to law that state and local officials would choose to defy it.
For every politician Democrat and Republican who is tut-tutting that Davis must resign, they are defending a hypocritical standard. Where is the call for the mayor of San Francisco to resign for creating a sanctuary city resulting in the murder of American citizens by criminal illegal aliens welcomed by his lawlessness?
Where is the call for President Obama to resign for ignoring and defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?
When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis.
Those who are persecuting Kim Davis believe that Christians should not serve in public office. That is the consequence of their position. Or, if Christians do serve in public office, they must disregard their religious faithor be sent to jail.
Kim Davis should not be in jail. We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so.
I call upon every Believer, every Constitutionalist, every lover of liberty to stand with Kim Davis. Stop the persecution now.
I applaud her for her beliefs and for taking a stand, however, she should have resigned rather than a court fight. In essense, it is the same as if I worked for the DMV and chose not to issue a license to a black or hispanic or a gay. The point is if you work for a government agency you are obliged to follow their regulations. If you disagree with their rulings you should resign. You cannot say, no, I won’t do my job but, hey, I want my paycheck anyway.
Ted Cruz is way wrong on this.
This isn’t about a driver’s license, that the bible says nothing about.
This is about participation in an utter farce before the Lord.
Now if the government had come up with something else to call the union, like Frbzzyk, she might not have had a problem. But she is being asked to put her Jane Hancock not on a Frbzzyk but on a Marriage. She is saying there is no such thing.
I think you’ve hit on exactly what the gay mirage thing is all about. They couldn’t find fault with us so they invented a crime.
Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin
I totally understand that, my point still stands. If the courts recognize this, then resign and fight it in the media. Don’t expect to be paid for taking a stand that is contrary to your job description.
Many places I have not worked and several places I have left because their business practices were against my personal beliefs. I would not expect to work for them and argue they should change their practices to conform with my belief.
The Nazis told the citizens to follow illegal orders or they would be arrested.
YOU are telling Mrs. Davis to follow illegal orders or lose her job. Which is only a step ahead of being told to follow illegal orders or be fired. Which is next door to being told to follow illegal orders or be arrested.
When the day comes and they tell YOU to deny and reject your hate-group (religious) beliefs, what will YOU do?
I would never suggest that Mrs. Davis follow orders. I only suggest that she should have resigned rather than follow those orders.
I guess we can just agree to disagree on this.
Stand with her how?
Show me something, Ted. Go to Kentucky. Stand outside the jailhouse, hold a press conference and demand she be released! Stay there til she is! Rally others to join you! People are craving a leader that will take it to the streets!
No more #standwithdavis, Ted. Prove your a leader worthy of the Presidency!
meanwhile the cult is still waiting for Trump to decide what they believe (this week)
thank you kim davis. you’re the frontline for us against judicial tyranny. where can i contribute?
Loving and embracing perversion means to hate the truth (and anyone who stands with it). “Love” to them means destroying the truth (God's Word is truth).
Any wonder Sodom deserved the big zot. Their attitude and arrogance was/is wholly incompatible with and contrary to life itself. Kind of like their definition of “marriage”.
Excellent line.
Sad day for Christianity in this nation “under God” we have known it to be but not what it is becoming.........
Exactly right.
He began studying it---and giving speeches on it---at the age of fourteen.
He's the man this country needs at its helm.
Go Ted!!
You two obviously never took a logic class in either high school or college. Uncontrolled immigration = tens of million new Marxist voters. With tens of million new Marxist voters your religious liberty is toast. In fact if the Rats get any form of amnesty all your liberties are toast.
Where is the call for President Obama to resign for ignoring and defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?
When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis.
My esteem for this man only grows more unshakable as time passes.
So where is the Trumpster on this? He’s too busy making a big deal out of signing his “loyalty” pledge.
Says the election period concern troll who posted in 2004, then disappeared until November of 2012 to pop up and wail that we were going to lose.
And who took another long break until late in 2014, when you showed up just SO enthusiastic about Ted Cruz. But of course, it didn’t take you long for “concerns” to set in about him, either.
