A pollster in Iowa said on Sunday that Donald Trump is defying political logic with his 2016 GOP presidential campaign.
Ann Selzer added that Trump is converting skeptics in the Hawkeye State in a way she has never previously encountered.
A few months ago, he had the highest unfavorable [rating] of anybody, Selzer said of Trump on CBSs Face the Nation.
And people said, Well, he cant possibly do any better in the horse race because his unfavorable [ratings] are so high, said Selzer, president of the Selzer & Company polling firm in Des Moines. Can you ever really turn those around?
I said, You know, weve seen everything happen,' she told host John Dickerson. And weve certainly seen it happen this time.
Selzer pointed out her organizations latest poll as proof that Trump is winning the respect of everyday Iowans.
The new Bloomberg/Des Moines Register sampling released on Saturday has the outspoken billionaire scoring a 61 percent favorability rating.
He earns a 35 unfavorability rating, the survey added, a nearly complete reversal since the last Bloomberg/Des Moines Register sampling in May.
He now has seven people with higher unfavorable [ratings] than he has, and that includes Jeb Bush, Selzer said Saturday, referencing the former GOP governor of Florida.
He has grown his favorability and its turned into votes, she added of Trumps fortunes in Iowa.
Saturdays poll also said that Trump leads the race in Iowa for next years GOP presidential nomination with 23 percent support.
The latest RealClearPolitics average of national samplings, meanwhile, also has the New York business mogul ranked first in the Republican field with 23.5 percent.

People really shouldn’t be surprised about the Democrats flocking to Trump.
Lots of Democrats love their country, it’s just that they hate their local Republicans SO much that voting that way is inconceivable.
The degree to which the average RAT voter is a sick commie pervert is vastly overdone around here.
FU doesn't even start to cover it...how about FU very much, you condescending twit?
If I had unlimited power...an emperor...I would name Ted Cruz and Scott Walker as my right hand men.
At this point, it appears that's the most likely path to power for them. We do not live in a world with gogeo, emperor, so let's confine ourselves to the world we live in. In this world , politicians seek election. That happens in a world hostile to conservatives by definition.
That means the successful conservative candidate will sell himself and his vision around the media and the intelligentsia. He will prevail against the GOPe and the religious left.
Right now, it appears the only viable candidate is...Donald Trump.
I believe this may be the last election that matters. Illegal immigration will be fatal to America as we know it. We're fighting that against those who are supposed to represent us.
Ted Cruz can explain to me what has to be done and why. I'm not the problem.
Unless you are a mind reader, you can’t read anything in anyone’s heart. You do not know what is Cruz’s heart, Bush’s heart, or Rubio’s heart either.
So I look at a person’s accomplishments. Trump has created more jobs and signed more paychecks ON THE FRONT, than all other 16 candidates combined. I will take Trump over career politicians who have given superb speeches but accomplished NOTHING.
Or Trump could be leading Ben Carson by an even larger margin.
“the excitement of Joe Bidens entry into the race”
LOL
you idol worshipers still dont get it.You one note Johnnies live in your own bubble. If Donald Trump gets more than 50% in a this poll or that poll, that doesnt make him a conservative.
We don't care if he isn't your brand of "conservative".
Not only you never have had but you never will have your 100% "conservative"...Whatever that is.
You'll just have to continue your miserable life without one.
Perhaps you are correct about going overboard painting all Dems the same way. Also fault the GOPe for not teaching and expounding upon conservative ideals and principles. Reagan was a teacher of conservatism and a great communicator. The GOPe has failed miserably to win over voters and they have betrayed conservatism. A losing formula.
My post was about slick talkers, not builders.
I don’t find Cruz conservative enough. He voted to fast track the trade deal that was crafted in secret. He read the secret bill and even wrote an op-ed piece praising the trade deal. When it was a done deal, and his supporters got upset, only then did he vote against it.
He voted for the Corker bill, which usurps the power of the Senate to oppose the Iran Nuke deal. This is without a doubt one of the worse bills ever. Our children and grandchildren have to suffer the consequences.
He said he would consider means testing social security. When he considers means testing Federal pensions, then maybe I’ll listen.
He’s also for increasing H1-B visas, which takes away jobs from American technical workers. We can’t find technical jobs now. The places I’ve work have been at least 75% foreign workers. Yet they do massive layoffsevery few years.
As far as pro-life goes, we’ve had all these pro-life Republicans in power and we still have Roe Vs Wade. It’s not going to get any worse under Trump and I hope better.
I now realize most of the Republicans lie about being pro-life to run as a Republican. The Bushes for example. George Jr. may have been pro-life, but I don’t believe his father or brother. His grandfather was a treasurer for Planned Parenthood and Jeb was on the foundation that gave millions to Planned Parenthood. George Sr. and Barbara also helped Planned Parenthood until George Sr. ran with Reagan. Cruz maybe pro-life like he claims, but I can believe that Trump also had a change of heart. I know people that have changed as they got older.
We need to worry about the economy or we aren’t even going to have a country. All these professional politicians have got us in the mess we are in. 18 trillion and counting in debt. I’m ready for an outsider.
George Soros and Warren Buffet have also created a lot of jobs and signed a bunch of paychecks and they’re nowhere near being on the right of the conservative spectrum.
Ok, you decided to go after Cruz, so I will back it up with facts.
Ted Cruz has a record. I have watched him for the past few years from the days he was running for the Senate. When he says he will do something, like (fight to stop Obamacare), I take notice. He doesn’t do things because they’re popular, he does them because he believes they’re the right thing to do, and he always goes right to the people to explain the actions he takes because he knows they expect accountability. Nowhere clearer was that on display than the TPA vote, first supporting it, and then choosing to oppose it after it became a corrupt bargain. Both times he provided his reasons and was not afraid to take questions on the subject. This led me to understand why he took the actions he did and I was satisfied. Ted Cruz’s actions whether you agree with him or not, he has earned trust.
As for accomplishing nothing, that’s just bullsh!t and you’ve been called out on that before. Many people before have listed his accomplishments as the solicitor general of Texas where he stood up to the Bushies and World Court..and won. I think Isara is the one that posted the links, so I pinged him but it might have been someone else.
Whether we are for, against or undecided for Trump can we keep it to the ideas, thoughts and opinions respectfully without jumping on each others bones. It detracts from the forum IMO. I for one want to hear from those who disagree with my opinions and the reasons why. We can even fight each other but don’t drag it down to the dirt, muck and mire. C’mon now..
List 3 items Cruz has accomplished since elected to senate 3 years ago.
I never said Cruz was a bad conservative. My problem with Cruz is he can’t get 4 senators to side with him. He does not have leadership skills to attract followers like Trump has. If Cruz gets on the Trump train, it will help him a lot in future. He is just not ready to be at the helm in 2016.
When you compare Soros with Trump, you expose yourself as a complete illogical person. Soros has never been and never will be for AMERICA FIRST. He has never said it, and acted just the opposite.
you idol worshipers still dont get it...That just goes to show that the voting populace in this country can be manipulated with ease to the point its put the future of the country in jeopardy...Unfortunately for many of you, I doubt you have the skills to reason out this folly before its too late.
I responded to that post, yet you decided I was not "being respectful." How did you get there?

You may be satisfied with his explanation. I am not. His reasons don’t make sense to me. If Cruz didn’t realize a trade deal that is written in secret, that you had to go into a special room just to read it, and you were not allowed to take notes, was a bad deal, then he is not the right man to be President and negotiate deals that will be good for America.
I’m undecided if Cruz would be better off in the VP slot or remain a necessary firebrand in the Senate? We need a lot more like him in DC that’s for sure.
I dare not post publicly.
Aligned with president Trump, Cruz will become quite effective in any position he wants. My preference would be on SCOTUS. That way we get him for 30-35 years making very important rulings.
If he continues to advance respect for the USA, then his favorables will continue to rise. It really very simple. A lot more of the Rah Rah USA, and a bit less of the braggadocio.
I do like his confidence and his refusal to bow to the media and the PD police. In that, he speaks for all of us. I have been very hesitant about the Donald, but I am beginning to believe in him as a serious candidate for POTUS.
