Republican operatives, insiders affiliated with no campaign and donors with whom Right Turn spoke last week are not pleased about the state of the GOP race. They will say something like: Yeah, its early. Yeah, Rudy Giuliani never became president. But still. They will tell you public polling is exaggerated, although internal polling shows him leading. They are angst-ridden over Donald Trumps staying power, but more than that, the inability of the other candidates to respond effectively and present themselves as an effective alternative.
These Republicans, on one hand, despair that an egocentric bully with no discernible political principles should be leading in polls. They observe that his incoherent mix of authoritarianism, protectionism and cronyism is antithetical to the modern conservative movement, and in tone is 180 degrees from Ronald Reagan. But they also note that he is building an organization and displaying P.T. Barnum showmanship, as one veteran of GOP presidential campaigns put it. They shake their heads, unable to fully comprehend Trumps appeal, but more than that they are disturbed by the rest of the field. They do not believe Trump will be the nominee, but high hopes for a deep, quality field have not been met. In particular, they are worried that Trumps embrace of nativism will doom the party if mimicked by others.

“...an egocentric bully with no discernible political principles should be leading in polls”
Indeed, he won the presidency in 2008.
Though "cuckservatives" make a big show of defending traditional conservative values, yet when push comes to shove,[15] they consistently roll over and compromise on every critical social issues pushed by the left[18] out of fear of being called "racist," "sexist" or "homophobe"[15] because of their adopted liberal consciousness[2] and from having surrendered their moral authority to the left.[19]
And so the "cuckservatives" humiliate themselves[20] while feeling thrilled and excited from their own degradation[21] in their self-loathing love of defeat coupled with a sense of superiority[22] from never having strayed from the adopted moral standards of the people who despise them.[21]"
The GOPe were all set to ride their horse El Yeb and all us plebes would have to fall in line in the parade. Now that their grand master plan has been foiled so quickly their little tempests are in full bloom mode. Its a beautiful thang to behold.
Go Trump.
I SWEAR these people have more characterizations for what USED to be called following the damn law.
So does the pro Trump angst
Another Jebbifer Rubin piece of propaganda trying to convince us that ¡Yeb! is the best choice to turn the USA into North Mexico.
The Ministry of Propaganda is getting a lot of pressure from the Cheap Labor Express, they were supposed to have already squashed Trump.
What is she worried about, ABDNC said today he has reached his ceiling and has no chance of getting the nomination. They were all laughing at him, why is she worried?
Pray America is waking
Sadly, JEB is not that egocentric bully, with no discernible political principles.
It is this condescension that has produced Trump.
That is precisely what is driving me to the Trump camp.
What was Jenny's "right turn"? From Noam Chomsky to John Kerry?
A sure sign Trump is wining big.
Rudy Giuliani never became President....and he was a darling of the GOP establishment.
Do these people refuse to learn?
I wish I had known this was Jennifer Rubin’s so I wouldn’t have wasted my time reading it.
The GOPe needs to be careful. Trump is succeeding because the people like him. To attack Trump is to attack most of his supporters.
“Good point. You can see the hysteria in their words “authoritarian” (next will be “totalitarian”), “nativist” (next will be “hate monger”) and so on. “

Beware liberals who try to explain conservative principles to you!
It really is a perfect storm for Donald and “for” the GOPe.
MANY Republican voters want a new Party or a complete overhaul of this one. Trump is the ultimate lose canon. And there really isn’t anyone else the GOP is running that has enough support to mount a challenge, much less get elected.
And while I STILL stand by my believe that the GOPe will find a way to get Bush nominated once most of the current contenders drop out around April 2016, I gotta say to call this “interesting” is a great understatement.
Wow. They are ahead of Jennifer (The Red) Rubin.
The Ministry of Propaganda is getting a lot of pressure from the Cheap Labor Express, they were supposed to have already squashed Trump.
Spot on!
Cuckservative certainly describes the GOPeunuchs.
