NYT's Barro: 'Massive' Gun Grab Only Way To Impact Violent Crime

Give Josh Barro credit for candor. When it comes to guns, the New York Times correspondent makes no bones about the kind of draconian, Second Amendment-defying approach he thinks is necessary.
Forget about expanded background checks or other such measures. The only way to have a "big impact on violent crime," according to Barro, is to emulate Australia and "really take away massive amounts of guns that people have, reduce the rate of gun ownership substantially."

He’s saying what Hillary and most Dems believe: massive gun-grabbing is the way to go.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.

But deporting illegal immigrants would be way too hard and expensive.

I submit if Josh is advocating a complete deletion of the Second Amendment and gun confiscation, that we, because of the massive damage caused by journalists, should vacate that part of the 1st Amendment and imprison all of them.

grabbing guns will definitely impact violent crime... as the only ones left with guns will be the bad guys.
typical liberal. here’s a thought, have the libs remove guns from their home and put up a sign in the front yard that reads:
‘gun free zone. absolutely no guns on this property’
get back to us six months later and let us know how it went.

Anyone advocating the abridgement of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution by infringement deserves to have their U.S. citizenship and eligibility to hold public office abridged instead.

I wonder how this asshat would feel about implementing this sort of action if he were forced to be the first man through the door.

Sounds like Josh Barro wants to be a martyr for gun control (that is, CW II). Josh, you do know that you aren't going to get bodyguards to keep your miserable butt safe, don't you? Be careful what you wish for because there is the iron Law of Unintended Consequences. This law applies in spades to gun control and its supporters. Remember that the victims of your crime still get to vote — it's called Rule .308 or .223 or .45 or (fill-in blank).

Well, Prohibition did cut down on the number of deaths due to alcohol.
We saw well that worked.

Since much of the violent crime is centered in heavily democrat-supported districts, I’d agree, we should immediately disarm all democrats and democrat political supporters. That should solve the preponderance of the country’s gun problems.

I blame it on liberal-progressive ideology. Mass, uncontrolled immigration, victimhood, grievance groups, breaking up the family, attacking Christianity, growing govt power. Best way to deal with gun violence is to get rid of the democrat party. They run the cities where most of the violence happens.

Josh is using his First Amendment right to advocate the repeal of the Second Amendment. I wonder if he even realizes the magnitude of the irony?
