The 2nd Amendment does no such thing. It "gives" nothing. It prohibits the gov't from restricting our pre-existing right to keep and bear arms, which in turn flows from our pre-existing right to self-defense, which further derives from our inalienable right to life. Carson still does not fully understand that rights are not conferred by governments or documents.

When attacked on gun rights, candidates always fail to state that guns more often offer a means to avoid, mitigate, or completely stop violent attack. Those self defense uses are being reported more in the media, but aren’t as dramatic and sensational as highly profiled murders which make the headlines.

They think the defenders of freedom are weak and ignorant. They think they must achieve this important goal for BO before his term ends and achieve the most socialist goals of any time since LBJ. They see this, healthcare control, and achieving a one-party state, as the great socialist triumph of the age and possibly a final spike in the heart of America.

In the past few months we have had 2 examples of the failure of Gun control.
The poor young lady murdered in San Francisco by a Non-American. He couldn’t legally own a gun but managed to have one any way.
The Train Attack in France that was stopped by the 3 Americans. Europe has the kind of Gun control that Liberals dream of, but it didn’t stop the terrorist from getting plenty of guns and ammo.
Also notice how the Police are never around? They simply can’t be everywhere and cannot protect you.
The second amendment of the Constitution gives the government the responsibility to protect the God-given right of the people to keep and bear arms. Ben is a slow learner.
The right to bear arms is to protect us from the government. Everything else is gravy.

It makes me question why a US Citizen the the natural and legal right to defend themselves would NOT carry a gun.

Banning firearms reduces self defense to a matter of hand-to-hand combat, where the outcome will be determined by whoever has the advantage in terms of physical brute strength and skill - aka "the law of the jungle".
