Jeb Bush has a fantastically awful idea when it comes to college education. He thinks community college students should get free tuition for two years. If thats sounds familiar, its because its the exact same thing President Barack Obama proposed in January. Which shows how completely hypocritical Bush is because he came out against Obamas plan in January. Oh, but Bushs plan gets even more #headdesk inducing. He wants universities to PAY BACK students who dont graduate in four years.
If kids cant graduate with a four-year degree in four years, there ought to be some payback to their families or to them, or their got to be some support for the loans theyve taken out.
This is so fiscally irresponsible and reprehensible, its not even funny. For one, it would cause major federal budget issues because the government has increasingly gotten involved in higher education over the last 50 years. Cato Institute wrote in 2009 how higher education federal spending hit $36.6B, not counting the $31.4B in research grants. College Raptors guide to financial aid shows the federal government covers 58% of student aid nationwide. This includes up to $5500 in Perkins Loans and up to $12,500 in Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans for undergrad students. This doesnt count the Pell Grants or Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants available either. So its possible, Bushs plan could end up making the federal government pay TWICE in both loans and the payback, because the universities sure arent going to use athletics fees to pay students back.
Yeb, silly, bi-cultural, yeb.
I give you today’s Republican party.
Bernie Sanders is mad. That’s the kind of freebie that he, as a proud progressive was just about to offer!
What about all the poor schlubs who do not and did not even attempt college because they knew they could not aford it and/or they could not get FAFSA financial aide because their parents maybe “made too much” (and did not wich to help the kid with school anyway)? In other words “Middle Class”? Will they get reparations?
The whole time Obama has been in office he has been pandering to the deadbeats and “youth” implying that he would either forgive all student loans or even do away with tuition. As a result many of them run up unlimited debt, do not even start to pay their loans back, and try to wait out the period within which the government may try to collect.
It is just another huge wedge to drives between different classes of American people!
Does he run this stuff by anyone before he makes these statements? One wonders...
Good grief. Someone put this guy out of his, and our, misery already.
What a crazy idea. It would make a college degree worthless, because there would be an incentive to pass all the students ( regardless of merit), because otherwise the colleges would have to give all the money back.
Jeb is a complete idiot, and the only reason why he is not a Democrat is because his family is Republican, and he does not want to break that tradition.
Don't discount the sympathy vote folks.
Hillary's Village Idiot... oh wait, is that what she meant?
toast.
Jeb Bush is a disaster on every issue. He needs to get out.
Blatant attempt to buy votes.
You can almost see smoke and sparks coming out of his head. I think Trump saying last night that Jeb and Rubio were kissing and hugging even after Rubio stabbed him in the back was just too much for the Jebster.
¡Yeb! is a Democrat in an R jersey, in fact, he’s the worst Democrat in an R jersey the GOP has ever tried to force on us, topping Romney and McCain, which isn’t easy to do.
“”He thinks community college students should get free tuition for two years.””
How much tuition do community college students pay now? This is like his father not knowing how a grocery store checkout counter works.....
Inbreeding?
