Donald Trump has until the end of next month to formally declare his allegiance to the Republican Party or his name will not appear on the South Carolina presidential primary ballot.
South Carolina GOP Chairman Matt Moore confirmed the requirement this afternoon that candidates filing as Republicans must pledge not to turn as a third-party candidate should they lose the nomination.
At least two other states - Virginia and North Carolina - are contemplating similar moves as way of keeping the unpredictable billionaire in check.

Is this really what the VOTERS want or is this another Linda Graham’s idea and went crying to the GOPee of South Carolina?
I have a hard time thinking there isn’t some underhanded dirt here, the biggest rally of the candidates would want...
Where did all this p.c. crap start anyway??? Has it ever been done before? And then there is Colorado and what they are doing....
The GOP will do this at their own peril.
“Trump should call them out. He should point out that they are trying to require allegiance to an unknown candidate and its similar to passing legislation to find out what’s in it. And he should name some names behind the pledge.”
>>> Brilliant!!!!
It’s happening in CO, too...to a degree.
The GOPe is running skirtless, over Trump. They’ll pull whatever dirty tricks they can pull - ala Midge with the Cochran race, and in KY - to stop the will of We the People....to allow them to coronate their chosen COC/Cheap Labor Express candidate.
This has to stop, NOW.
It's pretty simple. He will sign the pledge....and not say boo about it. he whole damn country is aware....and he will only go up in the polls.
The party is making itself look bad.
“I pledged allegiance to The Republican Party - not the GOPe socialists”.
EXCELLENT plan :)
Does the GOP really want to have Trump win the SC primary as a result of write-in votes? That would destroy the repukes as a party.
Sounds to me like it might be time to consider a “National Republican Repudiation Day”. For some unknown reason, I’ve remained registered as a Republican. Laziness, I guess.
If thousands of Republicans were to change their registrations to independent on a single day, it might, just might, let the GOPe know that we’re sick of their BS.
Linda Graham has said he won’t support Trump if he wins. Graham looks to be lying here.
Sign their stupid pledge. It’s not bound by law. The GOPe lies to us all the time. I wouldn’t care if The Donald signed their pledge and then stabbed them with it.
Virginia, like 43 other states, prohibits candidates who lose their party primaries from qualifying for the general election ballot as independents. Instead, if such candidates want to continue their quests for office, the state forces them to tilt at windmills, by mounting write-in campaigns.
It doesn’t even accomplish anything, it’s just incredibly petty.
Dont sign it Donald-— then hold a 2nd debate at the same time or a rally in SC. Scrooogr ‘em.
“Does the GOP really want to have Trump win the SC primary as a result of write-in votes?”
>>> That would be hilarious of course, but here’s my concern. If someone managed to misspell Donald Trump’s name does it still count as a vote for him? Or will there be something like this:
10000 for D. Trump
10001 for Donald T.
10002 for Doland Trump (some folks are dyslexic you know)
10003 for “The Don”
10004 for Donald Trump
Of course we with more than 1 brain cell know it should be 50010 for the last in the list! But what if there’s another “Florida-type” debacle where vote counters have to decide who the vote was REALLY cast for? Holy cow that would be something to watch.
Look the GOP (e) in South Carolina is running on an empty fuel tank. If they deny Donald Trump a place on their primary ballot....and Trump runs as an independent and wins, or, if he runs as an independent and loses the POTUS race, either way, the GOP (e) dies!!! What a bunch of idiots!!!
Can't wait to see how Trump uses this to his own advantage.
I would remind the party of it’s 2008 nominee, and explain that there are times when it’s impossible to support an enemy to our cause.
Huh?..............
