Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump fired back at Fox News on Tuesday after the network's head and several of its star personalities criticized him in an ongoing feud over anchor Megyn Kelly.
The celebrity real estate tycoon said he "totally" disagreed with a statement from Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes that defended Kelly's "tough but fair" questioning of Trump at the GOP debate Aug. 6.
"I do not think Megyn Kelly is a quality journalist. I think her questioning of me, despite all of the polls saying I won the debate, was very unfair," Trump said in his statement, reiterating past criticisms of the host.
"Hopefully in the future I will be proven wrong and she will be able to elevate her standards to a level of professionalism that a network such as FOX deserves," Trump added in the statement.
A slew of Fox News hosts and personalities slammed Trump after he reignited a feud with the network and its star anchor Monday night, when Kelly returned to the airwaves following a 10-day vacation.
Trump shared several tweets critical of the female host, including one referring to her as a "bimbo."
That set off a series of social media responses from several of her colleagues, including Bret Baier, who told Trump to move on, and Sean Hannity, who told the businessman to "leave @megynkelly alone."
Ailes also issued a lengthy statement Tuesday defending Kelly from Trump's criticism:
Donald Trump's surprise and unprovoked attack on Megyn Kelly during her show last night is as unacceptable as it is disturbing. Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at FOX News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise.
"I could not be more proud of Megyn for her professionalism and class in the face of all of Mr. Trumps verbal assaults. Her questioning of Mr. Trump at the debate was tough but fair, and I fully support her as she continues to ask the probing and challenging questions that all presidential candidates may find difficult to answer.
"Donald Trump rarely apologizes, although in this case, he should. We have never been deterred by politicians or anyone else attacking us for doing our job, much less allowed ourselves to be bullied by anyone and were certainly not going to start now. All of our journalists will continue to report in the fair and balanced way that has made FOX News Channel the number one news network in the industry.
Despite doubling down again on his criticism of Kelly, Trump also suggested that he may be ready to move on from the public dispute, saying "more importantly" he was pleased to see several new polls showing him in the lead.
"I will be in Iowa tonight with my speech being broadcast live on CNN and other networks," Trump concluded. "My sole focus in running for the Presidency is to Make America Great Again!"

If she’s so bad why did he watch the whole show?
I get posts and Freepmails of support all the time. But if I get blowback from defending conservatism, so be it.
You said “Many if not most conservatives took issue with Kellys debate performance. You, however, take issue with a GOP candidate standing up for himself and speaking the truth.”
The whole premise of your posts in the thread is you defending Trump for his bashing of Megyn’s question.
Yet you attack me for my bashing of Trump’s tweet.

ROFL!!!
When I was a kid, that little rhyme usually featured a boy and a girl who didn't particularly like each other.
The questions he got were made up ambush junk and they didn’t talk to Cruz for 40 minutes either.
I am still not turning on Fox and not only due to Trump.
She must have used a fake name on Ashley Madison. Ivana Cheatum?
Your premise was that he’s in love with her. That is lunacy. But by all means change the subject. What else can you do?
This is the incoherence I referenced. My post does not ‘bash’ Kelly for one debate question. That was a false accusation.
You’ll need to be more accurate and lucid if you wish to have any credibility.
I agree!
It's interesting how many posting here miss the obvious.
At this point Trump is INTENTIONAL and pretty much in total control of the media.

I only watch Greta now. I will never watch the others again.
I'm going to give you an "A+" on being completely "out of touch."
I doubt Trump worries.
Kelly on her show had a gop consultant on, Chris Stirewalt, and spent 7 minutes badmouthing trump and making fun of him. It was AFTER this that Trump made his tweets. Of course, you won’t hear about the precipitating factor from the media. In other words, Megyn didn’t take him on head to head or fearlessly, as she likes to consider herself, and instead hid behind a man, and had him make the offending comments as she sat there nodding in agreement and leading him on.
In other words, she let the men do her dirty work while she hid behind a pair of men’s trousers. Not fair and balanced, and not the way real women carry on. Megyn let Stirewalt do the long smear, and they both laughed about the snarky “Wonderfulness bureau” re Trump.
Megyn is a disgrace to real women and, as per norm, the entire media presentation is false.

And there aren’t 50 other people on TV every night criticizing him? Some justified and some not. Why is he so obsessed with Megyn?
He said in Iowa that he refuses to let things like that go. And he thinks that’s a good quality. We’ve had enough vindictive presidents with vendettas who are constantly trying to get revenge on people they feel are against them. See Obama’s IRS.
She shouldve asked him for how many years he cheated on Ivana with Marla Maples. Wikipedia says about 5.
“He wants only softball questions.”
That is total BS, and you miss the point of this latest controversy. Megan, with the aid of Cris Stirewalt argued on Jeb’s side regarding comments Jeb said re Trump. This is not a journalist’s duty. She was totally wrong and used Cris to make her point. Kelly is way off base, and that is what Trump tweeted about her.
It has nothing to do with her way out of context 1st question to Trump about women, and Trump interrupted her before she finished the question/comment (she was arguing her question for Trump before she wanted him to answer) by saying Rosie O’Donnell. Rosie was all of those things and more that Trump said about her...she attacked Trump’s family. Rosie is a fat bitch, and Kelly is a pimp for Rosie and the GOPe. But Kelly is a leftist who cheered when O’Bumble Ears was elected.
Don’t get Carraway with your comments, Nick. And you are not getting this current controversy. See my post to another one like you...my post #199 on this thread.
Putin would become a pussy cat in real life drama when Trump is President. And ISIS...get real. The only reason ISIS is a threat is because the Coward-In-Chief, a similar piece of evil, Islamofacist $hit, has defacto armed ISIS, given them mobility with our state-of-the-art military equipment, and despises everything ISIS is against.
