MARION, Ohio (AP) — The thousand-mile journey to the Texas border was supposed to bring the Guatemalan teenagers to a better life. Instead, it was the beginning of a terrible ordeal: prosecutors say they were fraudulently plucked from U.S. custody by conspirators posing as friends or family who forced them to work as virtual slaves.
As the country's immigration system was being overwhelmed by an unprecedented flow of unaccompanied children fleeing unrest in Central America, prosecutors said one of their countrymen orchestrated the scheme to force them to work on egg farms in Ohio.
U.S. immigration policy dictates that unaccompanied minors trying to escape dangerous situations can't be turned away. Once the teens were in federal custody, false paperwork was submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement, according to the indictment issued in July. Then the conspirators took custody, promising to provide shelter and get them to court dates that would determine their immigration status.
Instead, paid drivers known as "coyotes" whisked the boys to Ohio, where they essentially went underground, forced to work long hours, live in dilapidated trailers and hand over most of their earnings to pay for their passage to the U.S.

When we talk about controlling our borders, we need to be talking about the underground slave trade our government is allowing to happen.
The same scenario can easily be applied to gang recruitment.

I really think if we stop trying to call it Illegal Immigration, but change to calling it what it really is...Human Trafficking... we just might have a better debate position.
Because of lack of enforcement in our current policies, Human Trafficking is becoming more and more rampant.
From this scenario to the exploitation of Chinese mothers in Maternity Hotels...it is Human Trafficking and not really illegal immigration anymore.
If the left can change the language...we can too. And I strongly feel changing our language in this regard is actually speaking the truth about our current enforcement of immigration policies.
Involuntary servitude was abolished by proclamation and subsequent legislation a century and a half ago, and now we have “modern” thinkers looking the other way while it is being re-established in every quarter. First, we have the Muslim invaders entering, establishing Shari’ah law, and with it, the whole concept of “Dhimmi” and “Kufir”. This really revolutionary and regressive mindset is contrary to every precept that is embodied in the American ideal.
Now more recently we have vast swarms of unaccompanied youth streaming in, and demands they be released by all means possible from detention centers, into the custody of “relatives” of dubious credentials, and made into unwilling but helpless victims, exploited at every turn, with no chance or opportunity to escape their fate.
Now maybe some form of slavery is the “normal” condition of a large portion of humanity, but it flies in the face of every definition of freedom and justice I have been acquainted with. The genius of the American ideal is that every man is FREE of these limitations and obligations placed upon his head by forced submission to the will of another, who definitely does not have that person’s best interests in mind.
