Donald Trump may be the spinning top that wont fall down, but his Iowa co-chair is cringing at some of his recent statements.
On illegal immigration, he wants to gather up the families and ship them out? That was a boondoggle. The caucusgoers are like, What? That was a big mistake, Richard Thornton told The Des Moines Register.
But Thorton still thinks the Republican candidate can plow forward, but he is going to have to expand his policy issues to do so.
He told the Register Trump needs to focus on the economy, bringing back jobs from overseas and term limits.
So far, Trump has only detailed one policy proposal: His controversial immigration plan.
At his first town hall in New Hampshire Wednesday, Trump was asked about his other campaign ideas.
The business mogul promised wonderful policies in the future, but cautioned against laying too much out ahead of time.

Soon to be Ex.................
Thornton is weak.
He must go.
That would be former co-chair.
FIRING PEOPLE!
And a good house cleaning of the GOP leadership from top to bottom is badly needed along with a massive firing of 1,000’s of government losers collecting checks and well as whole departments that need to be eradicated.
.
The air is leaking out of the Trump balloon.
.
I figured there would be a twitter message calling him a loser before noon.
I saw Trump give an interview a long time ago where he discussed the whole “you’re fired” thing. He said that was cultivated by TV producers for the show and like most bosses he hates having to fire people even when it must be done.
Clearly Richard Thornton has never worked in business.
That’s not how you talk to/about the CEO... esp. if you want to keep your job!
If his own campaign people start refuting his policies, they should go...although this is politico and it is likely a lie!
Here's what was actually said....
On illegal immigration, he wants to gather up the families and ship them out? That was a boondoggle. The caucusgoers are like, What? That was a big mistake, Richard Thornton told The Des Moines Register.
Thornton said that the CAUCUSGOERS said it was a big mistake. Was he right? By the look of Trump's crowds and their enthusiasm level, I'd say NO, that he was wrong.
Is this guy Thornton weak? Looks like he's not the brightest color in the crayon box. Might be demoted, or out on the street, soon.
That’s why he has people under him to fire them!
I think air is leaking out of your GOPe raft.
Actually it’s a big win for him; it allows him to advocate amnesty without it appearing that way.
(Maybe not a big win for the country, but no candidates are actually advocating more.)
I’m not sure. He still comes across as a blow hard. But ... thinking blacks might be wondering about jobs in the future.
Even if he’s right, you don’t tell the media.
Wasnt the Register the paper that Trump boycotted from his appearences?? The fact that this idiot is squawking to them should be grounds for a permanent “Meg-cation”...
Based on the quotation marks, the caucusgoers said “What?” and Thornton said “That was a big mistake.”
The original article, in the Des Moines Register, has a lot of interesting quotes and perspective from people all across the GOP and conservative spectrum.
6000 miles of land based border between US and Mexico / Canada
90m+ adults not working.
real unemployment exceeds 20%.
30m illegals in the country.
solution:
1. stop the flow
2. return the illegals
to accomplish #1, hire 6000 teams of 100 individuals to each produce 1 mile of wall in 1 year. contracts would be fixed price, with the price established by the median amount bid (not the lowest). certain sections may warrant special attention, and prices would necessarily vary for those sections. each section would have the same core design as all previous sections.
also note, wherever possible, there would be a 1/8 mile of flattened ‘no man’s land’ on either side of the wall. this is to provide additional security.
the entirety of the wall would lie on the US side of the border. this would imply a 1/4 mile ‘line’ at the border.
as for #2, establish a no-harm bounty program on illegals to commence 1 year after the work on the wall begins. prior to that time, illegals may return to their country of origin without being detained. after that time, any illegal that is turned in will net a bounty of $500-1000. if any harm comes to the illegal, the bounty hunters will be charged with the appropriate crimes. once apprehended, the illegal will be interviewed and their country of origin would be determined. they would then be placed on the next commercial flight to that country, flying coach, with $100 in their pocket. the entire bill for their return would be forwarded to their embassy in the US... payable within 30 days. if the bill is not paid, the embassy will be closed and relations with that country will be severed. to avoid the cost of deportation, we would encourage the embassy to contact its citizens here illegally and encourage them to go home before the time runs out.
this is how to solve the problem.
