FYI, I support Ted Cruz...but Trump looks like a very clear winner at this point, and if he takes Cruz as Veep or in some other key position, then the lack of conservative purity is not as important to me.

I am a Cruz supporter as well, so Trump will not be getting my vote in the primary. My line of question has nothing to do with Perfect vs Good, and everything to do with truth in advertising and the idea of past performance indicates future expectations. A huge number of people that call themselves conservatives have chosen to ignore Trump's past left leaning statements and stances because he is voicing the frustrations they feel, right now. heck, I cheer him on every time he sticks his thumb in the GOPe's eye. That doesn't mean he' the right pick, though. His stance on socialized medicine hasn't changed. He praised it in the first debate. That's a tell on where his true political leanings are vs the populist picture presents on the campaign trail.

I have not seen, or heard enough to convince me he is the real deal. If Trump has not truly had a conversion, and is simply saying what ever needs to be said to get the nomination, then he would be worse (using his past statements and stances as a guide) for this country than some of the mid to slightly left leaning GOPe candidates in the race, IMO. There is still a long way to go, before the nomination happens, and he may truly changed his spots. Time will tell.

You win by uniting not dividing. The GOPe controlls “the party” the GOPe can and very well might try to sabotage GOP nominee Trump. Having a GOPe VP on the ticket migagates that risk. Regan knew this, which is why Bush (whom Reagan very much disliked) was on the ticket. Trump is smart man, he will pick a VP that helps him win. I think his VP pick will be John Kasik(sp) from the battle ground state of Ohio, or the fire tongued female Carly. I have Ben Carson as a long shot. It all depends on who the Rats nominate. If it’s Hilary or Warren the Carly is a good choice for VP. Barny or Bitten I’d go with Kasik.

Comparisons to Perot and others are completely meaningless here.

Trump is OWNING this race right now. Owning this race like I've never seen one owned before. At least not since Reagan back in 1984.

And now he's going to Alabama tonight to speak to a stadium crowd of 40,000 people. Six months before the first primary! This is unprecedented.

Most of the media coverage of Trump is lies and smears and hits: “Trump is racist” , “Trump hates women he said megyn kelly was acting like that cause she's menstruating” etc.

Trump didn't say that . the media lies. Many people believe Trump said that. If you think that is why people support Trump you are living in a fantasy world. the media is trying to destroy Trump. so far he's survived. 46,000 reporters are trying to dig up any dirt or manufacture some scandal

I hear liberals/democrats and low info voters all the time saying “Trump is racist”

According to George Will, 57% of Republicans are vulgar and unwashed.

And that number is growing by the day.

Unfortunately, Carly and Kasich are both uber RINO’s.

If either of those two are Trump’s VP choice I hope Trump has an official food taster, because I wouldn’t put anything past the GOP establishment Chamber of Amnesty types.

Having a GOPe VP on the ticket migagates that risk. Regan knew this, which is why Bush (whom Reagan very much disliked) was on the ticket.

One of Reagan's biggest mistakes. That's why the conservative revolution that he started was gone 4 years after he left office. That's why the GOP is in the shape it is today. We don't have to unite to win. Should we unite with the democrats to win? There's no difference between the party's anymore. obama tears the cosnstitution to tatters and does whatever he wants and the GOP Congress pays for it. I want NOTHING to do with that scum! I want a new party...a REAL second party. A real alternative to the statists currently destroying America.

From a difference thread

"Trump is right about immigration and on that issue alone he's earned the vote of every thinking American. Let the left import 60 million more Marxist voters and the USA is finished. Think 60 million is an inflated number? Consider this, there are probably 20 to 30 million illegals here right now. Grant them citizenship and then they have the right to bring family here. 20 million bringing just two family members is 60 million. If 20 mil bring 5 family thats 120 million."

Trump is the only candidate running that is credible on the issue of immigration. Not Cruz, not Walker not Paul. Only Trump is credible. Only Trump made immigration the center point of his campaign. The others could have but declined to do so. Trump owns the most important issue of our times. All the rest are "me too" candidates that will fold in a NY second if elected.

A neighbor, union guy and life-long Democrat, is supporting Trump. That’s what I’m hearing from everyone I talk politics with at the grocery store, mall, etc.

We are hearing a lot of the same type of talk even up here in liberal land, the Seattle area in the Northwest. For some reason it reminds me of when a liberal friend asked us take him and his wife to our gun club so they could try out his new shotgun and an old 45 he had inherited. They were ashamed because they knew it was hypocritical to want to be able to protect their home and themselves when they were still supporting gun grabbing politicians. Yet they both loved shooting those guns when we got them out and they actually joined their own gun club.

A lot of liberals realize that Obama’s promise to “fundamentally change” America is coming true. We are being overrun by illegal immigrants and legal Muslim immigrants from the Middle East and Africa. Many are starting to realize that the America we grew up in is quickly disappearing. I think that many can also see that the Obama economy is a lie. These people actually seem to be supporting Trump. Whether they would really vote for him in the general election is questionable, but from what I am hearing I feel that many of them actually would.

Wow! Just wow. It that's true, and I have no reason to doubt you, it's over and Trump is the nominee. Unless Trump takes out Trump that is, lol.

What happens when Trump has to debate real issues against Warren or Clinton? I think we will see a repeat of crash and burn as we saw with Romney.
