Trump way up in post-debate poll

Donald Trump saw his lead over his Republican presidential rivals grow substantially in the days following both the first GOP debate and his controversial comments about debate moderator Megan Kelly.

Trump’s support increased by 7 points to 32 percent, according to this week’s Morning Consult tracking poll.

The real estate mogul’s closest rival — Jeb Bush — lost a point, dipping to 11 percent of the vote among self-identified Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

Support for all other candidates was in the single-digits.

You haven't been paying attention:

Trump’s code, which he calls the “1-5-10-15 income tax plan,” is a simplistic way to fix our nation’s broken taxation system, without putting the strain on any particular group of people.

Under Trump’s tax plan, those making up to…

$30,000 per year will pay 1 percent in federal income taxes $30,000 to $100,000 will pay 5 percent

$100,000 to $1 million will pay 10 percent

$1 million or above will pay 15 percent

“It’s clear and fair,” wrote Trump on his tax plan. “Best of all, it can be filled out on the back of a postcard and will save Americans big bucks on accountants and massive amounts of time wasted attempting to decipher the tax code.”

Self-correction. It appears the 796 is the sub-sample as described later in the poll. SO less than 1000 nation-wide.

Trump has support from 24 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, a new Morning Consult survey shows, well ahead of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who finishes with 13 percent of the vote.

Above the Morning Consult poll before the debate. Unreal if this six or seven point gain is confirmed by other polls. Not that familiar with this poll.

Week Before Debate, Trump Has the Lead

Hillary is fading, even as Donald is surging. But, of course, the power brokers in the Democratic Party will replace her with someone more charismatic. You may not like Trump, but he is one of the few possible Republican candidates, who would be able to rise to the occasion that will come, when those power brokers choose their champion.

It is highly unlikely that they will rest with anyone now being mentioned.

How long till Frank Luntz hangs himself at the nearest gas station bathroom?

I've recommended four months at the Fat Farm for both Luntz and Erickson. They are both sorely in need of some time to recuperate and regroup. Be compassionate.

Iowa poll has Trump well ahead. Every poll out has Trump either small or large gains over the weekend. All the experts said he was dead lol

What big changes? Even the one issue he gets the most credit for, border security, he’s got the identical position as the moderate candidates...build a border fence and then “do something” to accomodate the illegals already here.

Trump’s equally vague on how he’ll “deal” with China. He’s promised virtually nothing so he could easily swing left or right once elected.

Already read it. Did you look up what progressive taxation is? That’s an example of it like I already said.

Also, if you’re sure Trump will win, vote for Cruz anyway to give him more delegates. If Trump ends up needing some delegates, Cruz is the most likely to give them to him and also use that as leverage to be V.P.

I’d like to know just who Trump would consider for V.P. Perot sure screwed that pooch hard.

Poll is a sham...it isn’t a Republican poll.

Wishful thinking. The Republican results reflect only the Republican participants in the poll. You're trying too hard.

The poll, conducted among a subsample of 746 self-identified Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, shows Trump running slightly better with male voters than with female voters.

Cruz voted against the bill after previously supporting it. He even wrote an article in the WSJ supporting it. When he knew it was safe to vote against it, he did.

The Corker bill was not just any bill. It took away the Constitutional authority of the Senate that requires 2/3rds of the Senate to support a treaty before it can be passed. It allowed Obama to pretend this deal is not a treaty with Iran. It will give the Iranians the chance to whole the rest of the world hostage.

I do not know for sure if Trump would have voted for or against the trade deal, but I doubt it. I do know he would never have voted for the Corker bill. They couldn’t have rolled him on that.

I also like his immigration stance. As far as some of his other positions, the press is attacking him personally, rather than asking him where he stands on a lot of the issues.

He has a weapons permit and owns a gun and is proud of it.

Rhinos don’t fight. Rhinos roll over and play dead. If the the real Rhinos and Neocons keep it up, they won’t be playing the next time they roll over. Seriously, if Trump is defeated UNFAIRLY the GOP is over. It can’t recover from half its base being driven away for a generation. If Trump loses fairly, that’s a different matter.

Rhinos need to be careful with how they treat Donald. There’s more at stake here than a single election.

I agree the ONLY things I've seen Cruz DO as a Senator is what you said which is help pass the Anti-American Obama agenda. Especially that obama trade which a trojan horse for unrest ricked 3rd world immigration is a country destroyer.

Yep, I was wondering something...and it is a honest question...

How do you determine a Republican leaning Independent? I mean, how many times to they vote Republican to be considered this?

Trump vs. Hillary would be a match between two of the most-hated people in America.

A truly uninspiring race. Whoever wins, we lose.

...and who is this WE that you speak of....?

and if the race were so "uninspiring" how come Trump keeps going up in the polls....?
