People are again predicting his demise. The widely admired Megyn Kelly is definitely a riskier target for him than John McCain was. But since an enormous amount of his appeal is based on saying outrageous things and not apologizing for them, itd be foolish to think that anything that has transpired since Thursday will sink him.
I wouldnt be surprised, though, if the debate and its aftermath check or reverse the progress hed been making in the internals of the polls (higher favorable ratings, fewer Republicans saying theyd never consider voting for him, etc.).
I basically only have one barometer for whether Trump has gone too farand thats when Ted Cruz is willing to criticize him directly. We havent reached that point yet.
I take Andys point about how all the other candidates are making their own calculations how to respond to Trump, too, but the gentle treatment Cruz affords the mogul is especially noteworthy given how eager he usually is to attack other Republicans and the fact that Trump has the most flagrantly RINO record of anyone in the field. So I dont doubt that he shamelessly changed the subject as Alexis said, because this is something he really, really doesnt want to have to address for now. (And as a general matter, I appreciate Alexiss robust coverage of the flap that consumed the political world this weekend).
More broadly, its pretty clear where the drift of this thing is heading, which is not toward Trump winning the nomination, but toward Trump somewhere along the way saying hes been treated unfairly by the GOP, by the media, by Jonah Goldberg, et al. and declaring next year that hes seriously considering an independent bid. Even if he didnt ultimately pull the trigger, it would guarantee another couple of months of attention for Donald Trump, which is the only thing that matters for Donald Trump.
As I posted here the other day, the two tres-liberal sons of liberal Rupert Murdoch assumed the day-to-day operational duties for Fox on July 1.
(The old man says he's not yet retired, but he probably has more free time now to have additional intimate dinner engagements with Iranian princess/presidential advisor, Valerie Jarrett).
At any rate, as they fall all over themselves to please their new Fox overlords, I'm adding Lowry to my list of Fox stalwarts now in full chameleon garb....Frank Klutz, Mayhem Kelly, Steven Hayes and now Lowry.

Well said and thanks!
I glanced over the link you provided. It still doesn’t clear up my distrust for Cruz over his first vote for TPA and his later vote for the horrendous Iranian arms bill. I mean, I’m all for trade, we are all for trade, but according to McConnell, the TPA was about handing over to Obama unusual power. The Iranian arms bill was supporting as close as possible Obama’s agenda insane agenda for making Iran a nuclear power, with ICBMs.
I agree on that. I do not understand why anybody thought it was a good idea to support the Corker bill, it was flat stupid. Cruz said he was for TPA because he generally supports free trade but the side deals killed it for him. I think he was wrong to even consider it but I am glad he changed his mind.
If Ted Cruz is critical of Donald Trump, that Donald Trump respects Ted Cruz enough to know that it’s positive critisizem, and he will leave it at that.
Ted Cruz is the ONLY lifeline to stop Donald Trump from going 3rd party.
In the event that Donald Trump drops out of the race, he will put all of his resources, and some money, connections, energy to get Ted Cruz to the nomination, AND win the POTUS.
So ?
Besides, Mitch McConnell is part of the “ Dark side “ and he is not a candidate running for president.
Is it really an attack when it is the honest 100% truth?
Wow, sounds like the same things I was hearing about Ronald Reagan in 1979.
I never admired her.
I think she is her own biggest fan.
“The reality is that he never intended to garner the GOP nomination; he is happy to see Jeb grab that”
Don’t think so - it is because he forced the discussion on illegals that the GOPe candidates are polling badly. Trump supporters will go to Cruz - maybe Carson if he is still around - when Trump fades, which will be a great thing.
I don’t know how I got on a ping list of yours, but you can remove me.
Plain and simple, you’re an idiot.
Nothing more needs be said.
Ohhhhhh Hogwash, Ted Cruz displayed alot of courage when he rebuked Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor.
And I do believe he would do the same when warranted in the future as POTUS when needed.
But that’s the gist of it, Ted Cruz is not in it for HIMSELF as most greedy and haughty politicans are, he is in it for us, and will fight for us, and stick up for the USA.
Sorry, but you are reading Ted Cruz wrong, Ted Cruz is a man of steel, a man of convictions, a man of courage when the matter and situation is called upon to do so.
But Mitch isn’t a candidate, he’s just an idiot
Prov 17:12 Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs,
Rather than a fool in his folly

>> “Cruz is the right man for the job,Ben Carson should be his VP” <<
.
This could be true. Carson’s heart is definitely in the right place, but he seems not to know what to argue about, nor how to form the argument.
“The party leader is NOT a candidate....”
Very good point!
Cruz supporters are the best! /s
Done.
Speaking of red meat, I just this weekend finally saw the Cruz Machine Gun Bacon video! It was fabulous. Talk about red meat.
I love Cruz. Trump is a well-meaning entertainer Schwarzenegger on a national scale, I fear. Ted Cruz is the right guy at the right time.
