I Have Disinvited Donald Trump to the RedState Gathering
Red State ^ | August 7, 2016 at 11:56 PM | Erick Erickson

Posted on 08/07/2015 10:48:17 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I have tried to give a great deal of latitude to Donald Trump in his run for the Presidency.

He is not a professional politician and is known for being a blunt talker. He connects with so much of the anger in the Republican base and is not afraid to be outspoken on a lot of issues. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross.

Decency is one of those lines.

As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.

In a CNN interview, Mr. Trump said of Megyn Kelly, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”

It was not the “blood coming out of her eyes” part that was the problem.

[SNIP]

I think that is true. And I’ve been very sympathetic to Donald Trump because so many of the people who have led the party astray refuse to even treat him as a legitimate candidate.

But I also think that while Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross.

His comment was inappropriate. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him. But I just don’t want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal. It just was wrong.

I have invited Megyn Kelly to attend in Donald Trump’s place tomorrow night.

Now we have to live in fear of Trump? That’s a world I’m not going to promote, or bend to.

A moderator should t make the debate about themselves. Taking over 30% of the talking time was horrible. They did a poor job.

Crist was a republican at the time and Trump has a RE portfolio in Florida.

I have worked with a lot of real estate developers. They spread money around TO ALL PARTIES if they want to get projects built.

Erickson has filled in for Rush. He’s not just some flash in the pan commentator. That said, I don’t think disinviting Trump for dissing Kelly makes since. He should disinvite trump because Trump is a liberal.

I know! I just can’t believe Erickson is being this stupid. We have people on the other side of the aisle murdering 60 million babies but we’re going to chastise our front runner because he’s a bit of a bully. Does he really want Jeb to win that badly? Why not just shoot Cruz and the rest along with it? That sound you hear is live steam coming out of my ears!

He’s the guy who called Wendy Davis “ abortion Barbie” pillorying her appearance, not her politics

He’s the guy who compared the DNC convention opening to the opening of the “Vagina Monologues”

He’s the guy who discussed feminism as the result of women being ugly

But hey, he disinvited Trump because Trump’s comment about a female journalist who had blood coming out of her eyes.... or everywhere... “Lacked dignity”

Yeah, dignity ... Like Megyn’s questions to Trump and Cruz were “ dignified”

That about defines Erickson’s political and social commentary - DIGNITY

But then he wouldn’t be able to invite another “ abortion Barbie” like Megyn to his inference, would he?

Oh the irony

You wouldn’t want the Donald to lose the Oompa Loompa vote, would you?

Charlie Crist got a whole lotta GOP votes, once upon a time

Times change. So do opinions and attitudes.

I bet the Donald now has a whole new perspective on who he chooses to do business with- and give his money to

He is doing us a world of good as a candidate.

I don't call starving the conservatives of oxygen a world of good. You’re disarming us against our greatest enemy.

Our greatest enemy is public ignorance. How is Trump going to fix that. No. He is making a mockery of conservatism insofar as independents are concerned, showing it to be shallow, callous, and bigoted. He may have made some issues more visible, which is a benefit, which is not to say that others could have done that were they given the exposure. Cruz would.

We disagree.

Given his record, it didn't take any twisting, but you are so glassy-eyed you can't see it.

Just wow.

The “oxygen” argument doesn’t apply at this time. No one’s paying attention now except us fanatics LOL!

... Except for the people Trump has drawn in. Record numbers turned in to Fox’s “Trump Debate”. Many seeing and hearing Cruz, Walker, etc, unfiltered, for the first time.
So the reality is just the opposite.

My view of the perfidy of the media doesn’t seem to be shared by many LOL! so I’ll just point out the above.

I do not think that the GOP has really hurt itself at all. By well into next week, the embaressing GOP debate will pretty much be forgotten.

Trump Addresses Controversial Statements about Megyn Kelly, Responds to RedState Editor

http://www.theblaze.com ^ | 8/8/2015 | Kaitlyn Schallhorn
Posted on 8/8/2015, 8:43:26 AM by conservativejoy

Donald Trump stood by the controversial comments he made about Fox News host Megyn Kelly and slammed Erik Erickson for disinviting him to a RedState event in a statement Saturday morning.

Erickson, RedState’s editor, rescinded the group’s offer to Trump to speak at the gathering after he insulted Kelly after Thursday’s GOP debate. Instead, he invited Kelly herself.

“You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her — wherever,” Trump told CNN Friday.

In his own statement, Trump clarified that statement, claiming that the “whatever” was actually referring to her nose.

“Mr. Trump made Megyn Kelly look really bad — she was a mess with her anger and totally caught off guard,” the statement read. “Mr. Trump said ‘blood was coming out of her eyes and whatever’ meaning nose, but wanted to move on to more important topics. Only a deviant would think anything else.”

“By the way, the guy (Erick Erickson) who made the decision about RedState called Supreme Court Justice David Souter a ‘goat [expletive] child molester’ and First Lady Michelle Obama a ‘Marxist Harpy.’ He was forced to make a humbling apology.”

“Also, not only is Erick a total loser, he has a history of supporting establishment losers in failed campaigns so it is an honor to be uninvited from his event,” the statement continued. “Mr. Trump is an outsider and does not fit his agenda.”

Trump has only clarified his comment on Kelly — not apologized.

Erickson also came under fire in 2013 when he and fellow Fox News pundit Lou Dobbs appeared on Kelly’s show to defend comments they made in regards to a study that claimed that more women were becoming the breadwinners of the family.

“When you look at biology, look at the natural world, the roles of a male and a female in society, and other animals, the male typically is the dominant role. The female, it’s not antithesis, or it’s not competing, it’s a complementary role,” Erickson said then. “We as people in a smart society have lost the ability to have complementary relationships in nuclear families, and it’s tearing us apart.”

Trump slammed Fox News after the ratings for the debate were released; around 24 million people tuned in...

I agree. I had not heard that he did the Trump/Kelly switch.

I used to like Meghan Kelly, but those days are gone. That “debate” was all about her and it got old fast.

As for Trump, let him defend himself. He is a big boy. Maybe, it is more likely he wasn’t going to come to the gathering, so Erickson got his ego in a twist.

Whatever it is, I hope Erickson straighten’s up. I like listening to him on the ride home.

btw, can these people stop using Jammie Dubree, “the most connected man in Washington”? He is annoying and moderate to socialist. He is irritating as poison ivy.

I have invited Megyn Kelly to attend in Donald Trump’s place tomorrow night.

With the amount of disgust and disdain people have for Megyn right now, he's clearly doubling-down on stupid.
