FBI looking into the security of Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail setup
The Washington Post ^ | Tuesday, August 4, 2015 | Carol D. Leonnig, Rosalind S. Helderman and Tom Hamburger

The FBI has begun looking into the security of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private e-mail setup, contacting in the past week a Denver-based technology firm that helped manage the unusual system, according to two government officials.

Also last week, the FBI contacted Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall, with questions about the security of a thumb drive in his possession that contains copies of work e-mails Clinton sent during her time as secretary of state.

The FBI’s interest in Clinton’s e-mail system comes after the intelligence community’s inspector general referred the issue to the Justice Department in July. Intelligence officials expressed concern that some sensitive information was not in the government’s possession and could be “compromised.” The referral did not accuse Clinton of any wrongdoing, and the two officials said Tuesday that the FBI was not targeting her.

Kendall confirmed the contact, saying: “The government is seeking assurance about the storage of those materials. We are actively cooperating.”

A lawyer for the Denver company, Platte River Networks, declined to comment, as did multiple Justice Department officials.

The inquiries are bringing to light new information about Clinton’s use of the system and the lengths she went to install a private channel of communication outside government control — a setup that has emerged as a major issue in her presidential campaign.

For instance, the server installed in her Chappaqua, N.Y., home as she was preparing to take office as secretary of state was originally used by her first campaign for the presidency, in 2008, according to two people briefed on the setup. A staffer who was on the payroll of her political action committee set it up in her home, replacing a server that Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton, had been using in the house.

Why now, 2097 is rolling right along closer and closer every day...

They should have been involved from day one, protecting evidence.

American KGB. Their job is to cover for the political bosses, and arrest everyone who threatens them.

Hmmmm.

The FBI takes up the case of the Hillary email server about the time there are rumors of Biden becoming a candidate.

Since David Kendall is a private citizen, and not a State Department employee, shouldn't Hillary be charged with passing classified information to him?

It’s now under investigation and safely put to bed.

If it was managed by a 3rd party it is very likely THEY were backing it up.

There's also a couple of SMTP gateways they will have logs of To/From, so that Hillary is asked to produce something they have better reference.

Here's the kicker: The DOJ could get any Federal Judge to issue a warrant to seize every storage media in the entire mail flow path...tomorrow.

To include all physical properties that are associated...homes...datacenters...every computer hard drive between here and Timbuktu. They could simply start raiding each and every property in the paths of all her mail.

The compromise is potentially severe and has potential for great harm to the USA.

So there's only one reason I can think of as to why it has not happened: Hillary has something big on Barak Obama.

Would that be the OBAMA FBI?? HAHA

Don't over look the fact that this may be Obama "deep sixing" Hillary intentionally.

Don't discount it. We're living in an "anything is possible" political world at the moment.

Obama and his minders know they will have more influence and control over Joe Biden than Hillary Clinton. They can continue to promote the Obama agenda through Biden.

They have set Hillary up. They have also set up John Kerry to keep him out of the race. Joe Biden is getting more face time in the media, his son's dying wish was that he run, and he is going to announce his decision next month. Five bucks says he runs with a big pat on the back from Obama.

There are more sinister threat potentials. Get her data, blackmail her, supporter her for President and Obama call's the shots from Chicago.☺

Oh, that’s easy:

“We thought we may have inadvertently violated some arcane statutes on the handling of data, but thankfully, since the FBI didn’t find anything, we realize now that we didn’t do anything wrong, and those that say we did are vast right-wing conspirators”

I know what you mean. As I see all of these re-occurring names associated with the Clintons, I feel like it is 1998 and I have just joined freerepublic.

Furthermore, the government issues encrypted thumb drives for all official use, contractor employees included. I can get fired if I use an unencrypted thumb drive to store or transfer any government document.

Well sure the FBI is looking into it. This way they can stop anyone else looking into it by claiming they are impeding an on going investigation. Case closed.

I couldn’t believe it but CNN actually reported this story this morning. Not good news for the Hillary 2016 campaign. Biden to the rescue.
