Apparently a lot can change in two weeks. With the first Republican presidential debate of the 2016 cycle set to air on Fox News Thursday night, Rupert Murdoch used his prolific Twitter account to offer up this bit of political analysis over the weekend:
Fox Thursday debate vital for all candidates. If Trump gets thru unscathed it will be big win. Time for all to understand his support. Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) August 2, 2015
That is far cry from the sentiment Murdoch put forward about Donald Trump two weekends earlier:
When is Donald Trump going to stop embarrassing his friends, let alone the whole country? Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) July 19, 2015
Is the 21st Century Fox chairman merely trying to hype up the importance of his networks primetime event or has his mind really been changed when it comes to Trumps candidacy?
A follow-up tweet on Sunday showed that he is far from counting out the more realistic candidates who currently trail Trump in the polls:
Rupert Murdoch ✔@rupertmurdoch New WSJ poll shows Walker, Bush in strong place. Interesting to see first poll after first debate. 11:02 AM - 2 Aug 2015
Murdochs right about one thing, it will be interesting to see if Thursdays debate strengthens or diminishes Trumps increasingly strong support among potential Republican voters.
Translation: “Maybe we’ve had Donald Derangement Syndrome!”
>> Time for all to understand his support.
You can’t possibly be that oblivious, Murdoch. Therefore I must conclude you’re being disingenuous.
” If Trump gets thru unscathed it will be big win. Time for all to understand his support. Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) August 2, 2015 “
Yeah Rupert, understand it, so you can stamp it out : )
I’m not sure this debate will define anyone. They each get 5 minutes of time. That’s hardly enough time to evaluate the candidates. The big debate is the R vs the D in the general election. This could weed out some and also give others a boost. We shall see.
You mean “The crazies”?
Trump may throw a “little” twist to the debate. ;-)
Cruz would of, and could still, fill that spot.
BUT, Trump saw the opportunity and have grabbed the baton which should have been Cruz's and has exploded in the polls as I had hoped Cruz would after the first debates.
I dont trust Trump, but would vote for him if he were the nominee. Under no circumstances will I vote for Bush though.
I still think Cruz would be a far better president and I certainly trust Cruz more than any other living politician.
If you've ever watched his shows, Trump always asks...."why did you do this?....what were your expectations?....who was the most creative?
I think he will work the debates in the same way.
There’s a money angle in here somewhere.......................
I hope Trump throws this POS to the curb...Trump doesn’t need this turd, the turd needs Trump....
Murdoch likes Trump’s idea of a path to citizenship (i.e. amnesty) for non-criminal illegal aliens.
Nope. Trump says no citizenship.
FOX has been no friend to Donald Trump. Murdoch is soulless, animated by ratings. I don’t trust him to convert from the COC, over to Trump, anytime soon.
And then there is Megyn Kelly, who wants to retain her star status with Murdoch, intent on taking down whoever is the biggest horse in the race. Ratings rule.
>> I still think Cruz would be a far better president and I certainly trust Cruz more than any other living politician.
Good post. We’re on the same page.
Pray for Ted Cruz. That primary ain’t over yet... Trump may be clearing a path for Sen. Cruz.
Meanwhile, enjoy the show. :-)
RUPERT understands RATINGS!
Mr. Trump has been very kind and gracious to Fox News!
Fox News needs TRUMP’S REGULAR APPEARANCES ON ALL of ITS SHOWS.
>> Theres a money angle in here somewhere.......................
Are you kidding? This is politics in America. There’s a money angle in it EVERYWHERE.
Yeh...but unless I’m misinterpreting, they have to leave and come back in and this time fill out the paperwork.
