Perry is good but not consistently. I do not see him as a real threat to anybody for the nomination. We shall see!

A general consensus from around the dial seems to be that Hillary is all but dead. A hint of Biden was all it took. Dems would probably accept a “happy warrior” Biden with little chance to win, rather than another Clinton who would continue to embarrass the party and would have no chance by the time election day arrives.

That’s OK, it probably guarantees the eventual slapdown they will get from Trump, which they so richly deserve.

You know that the Murdoch’s Torquemadas will have some “gotcha questions” that will try to expose Trump’s lack of knowledge about a particular area, especially as it concerns some of his pronouncements about trade or immigration. For example, who is the PM of India or the head of China or President of Mexico?

Like that obscure radio DJ did to W. Bush. You can have some techniques ready to counter the tinker-toy factoid BS.

Here's one: You quickly scan the the debate crowd and see the usual puzzlement on Governor Perry's face. Trump redirects the question to Perry and of course he says 'Duuh... I don't duh'. Trump returns to the Rupert Murdock inquisitor to ask a different grade school question: 'Can you name me 5 Congs from the state of California?' It would steal the show.

Rick Perry falls into my ‘let everyone run but I don’t support him to win it’ category. He’s probably a nice guy but his time has passed, IMHO.

We should keep track of the “focus group answers” of these candidates. I strongly suspect there are more than a few who can not function without a canned focus group answer.

Agree. Also, the alleged consensus of these groups is oft times driven by the moderator. e.g. Mr. Fakey hair , I know how to talk Frank Luntz.

I like Trump, because he knows the bear traps that are out that and he simply doesn’t play.

Good points. Also unlike the “ Architect” Trump has actually had to come up with an idea, develop a plan, take a risk, and most importantly sustain after delivery. Sure he has failed, but I feel very confident he will say “ I have failed, and I have recovered. America is failing and I can recover us”....Take that MSM wannabes.

We did indeed have some 2,000 post threads, what with Psstpok’s wise remarks, Snug’s dinner pictures, Ms Marple’s commentary, Pukin Dog’s jokes, etc.

Yes, Psstpok’s "memes" were outstanding. As were Anita's weekly analyses. Thanks, AB, for the trip down memory laneQ

1. Fox is allowing the full contingent of candidates, even those below the "Top Polling 10". The conspiracy to keep Trump out by donor John Jordan by telling the next 3 candidates down NOT to show up if Trump is allowed in.

2. I think Trump is Perot but without the crazy.

Yes, the forum got out of hand for a while and hate for other posters was tolerated. We lost a lot of good people.

Right now I’m afraid... afraid of some of the gol-darn stubborn people who will sit out the election if they think the candidate will be another moderate.

I don’t care.

I want Ted Cruz but last time sitting out got us Obama. This time it will get us Hillary.

Drudge has this up now ..... if Perry doesn’t make it, I won’t miss his snarking & taking pot shots at Trump during the debate ... ‘cause that’s what I think he’d do.

Debate standings: Perry in 11th place
http://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/2016-debate-rick-perry-11th-place-120903.html

Chris Christie, John Kasich and Rick Perry are fighting for the last two spots on the debate stage — and after a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll Sunday morning, Perry is still most in danger of failing to qualify.

The three candidates are all at 3 percent in the new poll. But according to a Campaign Pro analysis of the five most recent live-caller surveys, Christie and Kasich are tied for ninth place, at 3.2 percent. Perry is outside of the top 10, in 11th place, at 2.6 percent.

The new poll continues to show Donald Trump leading the field. Trump is at 19 percent, followed by Scott Walker at 15 percent. Jeb Bush (14 percent) and Ben Carson (10 percent) are the other two candidates who earn double-digit support.

Nice, but our all time record on this thread was over 2,000 posts. We used to have a big crowd. Many got purged during the Giuliani campaign in 2008, and others during the 2012 campaign.

I’m not making a judgment here, just noting the facts.

You are correct. It’s too bad. Actions have consequences.

I suspect Trump is doing some debate prep. You know that the Murdoch’s Torquemadas will have some “gotcha questions” that will try to expose Trump’s lack of knowledge about a particular area, especially as it concerns some of his pronouncements about trade or immigration. For example, who is the PM of India or the head of China or President of Mexico?

I'd LOVE to hear Trump respond with something like: "Details, details. Ever hear the term, 'delegation?' The 'experts' (i.e., 'detail men') should be on tap NOT on top."
