A new National Journal survey of Republican insiders finds that 57 percent of these political professionals think Donald Trump will bow out of the Presidential race before the Iowa Caucuses. This survey probably says more about the state of the Republican political class than anything about the 2016 race or Republican voters.
Interestingly, 65 percent of Democrat insiders believe Trump will compete in the Iowa Caucuses in February next year.
The survey results could easily be dismissed as both groups answering what they hope will happen. Some Republican campaign professionals offered comments beyond the question:
No meteor or political candidate burns that brightly and survives very long.
Unscripted, he will crash and burn by Thanksgiving.
Flavor of the month.
Campaign will probably die of a self-inflicted wound.
The easiest political prediction to make is that the Trump campaign will implode after some impolitic remark. To date, though, that hasnt been the case, despite a full-throttled assault by the media and DCs political class.
Trump currently leads all national polling in the race. His lead has apparently increased even after he made off-the-cuff remarks criticizing Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)43% s war record. That he has gained support after those remarks should be a sobering wake-up call to the political class.
Peggy Noonan, the Republican establishments Greek chorus, has woken up to the realization that the Trump phenomenon and it is exactly that is real. She understands something the political class doesnt:
His rise is not due to his supporters anger at government. It is a gesture of contempt for government, for the men and women in Congress, the White House, the agencies.

Donald Derangement Syndrome symptom #26 Thinking Trump will bow out before Iowa.
They have to believe this, because they just can’t imagine the primary vote if Trump doesn’t bow out.

I don’t doubt this.
He just needs to get behind Cruz when the time comes for that.
Karl Rove will be hanging from a tree before Iowa.
there.
I fixed it.
I heard he lives in Austin.
This kind of talk should really boost Trump’s ratings. People can’t wait to hear which person who deserves it he slams next. Us little folk will support him just so it doesn’t stop.
“So they’re just guessing.”
A survey? I thought we would have a timeline of predictable events which could ultimately lead to only one conclusion.
What a complete waste of time. Feh.
Out of touch spaceheads wishful thinking !
The “poll” was probably conducted by Tokyo Rove - wishful thinking is a dangerous thing.
The insiders expect anger at the IRS Atrocity,
the Benghazi Treason, at RomneyObamaCARE,
and the murder of Terri Schiavo
will also ... vanish.
“I do feel contempt for them all.”
Which is the normal response to the contempt they’ve shown us for decades.
Oh, well if it’s the GOP “insiders” it must be a fact. They’ve never been wrong before. < /sarcasm >
IF the eGOP had such great “insiders” then why don’t we have a GOP president?? Hmmmm? Idiots.
Can’t wait for the GOPeer insiders to CHOKE on their words,,Lord knows I will be in the line feeding them crow in the Spring.
Will be SWEET!
They can’t suck the life out of Trump,,and that’s why they are doubling down on their efforts.
I will vote for Hillary before I vote for Jeb. See, I can double-down as well.
Insiders. What are they good for? Absolutely nothing.
Campaign will probably die of a self-inflicted wound.
Wishful thinking by Whig apparatchiks. Trump’s done everything but walk into the White House and snap Michelle Obama’s bra strap
They must have great faith in El Chapo.
I think "they" would like to hire El Chapo to take care of the "Trump problem".
Si senor. Yeb boosh won’t get my vote either. I guess his next conservative thing to do will be to tout gun control.
