After a gunman opened fire in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater last week, killing two people and injuring nine others, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is pushing back against repeated calls to strengthen gun control legislation.
"These are sick people," Trump said of the shooter, John Russell Houser, who was reported to be mentally ill. "This has nothing to do with guns. This has to do with the mentality of these people."
"I'm a big Second Amendment person. You need protection," the presidential hopeful added in a CNN interview Sunday. "This person from what I hear had a record of mental instability. If it's proven and documented you have to be careful to not let them kill people. He had the kind of record where he should be in an institution. He's a sick puppy."
Trump referenced another recent gun massacre in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where four Marines were killed, to argue against increasing gun control measures.
"With the Marines, that was disgraceful," Trump said. "These are people who know how to use guns better than anybody. And they're not allowed to carry guns, and this guy shot them...If they would have had their guns, they probably would all be alive right now."(continued)

Some, perhaps ... and some of us never went through the "liberal" phase. Some of us voted for Reagan ... in 1976.
What Trump says yesterday, today and tomorrow are likely to be 3 different things

Isn’r that fairly typical in the political arena?
I knew you couldn’t do it.
LOL. You are funny and precious.
While I support what Donald is currently doing, I have a very hard time supporting him seriously as he has been across the entire political spectrum and in recent history.

I appreciate you providing that information.
I don’t know of too many Leftists that are lifetime members of the NRA. Do you?
I’ll keep this info on file. Good find.
The big key fact that people seem to miss is that if he is, indeed, mentally ill, and has previous diagnoses of mental illness, then he is already not allowed to own a gun.
This is a clear instance where gun control laws failed to prevent a shooter from shooting up a movie theater.
All the laws did was limit a normal person’s defense against the criminal.
It’s from HIS 2000 book.....HIS OWN WORDS, from his book. I can find no other comments between 2000 and 2012 to contradict those either.
But before I embarrass you, I want you to stick your neck out a little further......I want a lot of blood on this one.....
Or, you could find some counter evidence. Oh wait, no, you can’t.....LOLOL
LOL
The logic of that point, in context, is that you support the status quo. Brilliant....../s
That link is bull shit.
The guy deals in bullshit, what else can he link to?
Absolutely, that link is BS.
Thank you! That's all I asked for.

so he said it 15 years ago. 15. Years. Ago. Not three.
Yes, I’m having the same problem with the Republican party now.
If there was a good alternative, I’d already be gone.
Moving to one of the small parties doesn’t accomplish much. Most of them have wing-nuts in charge.
As for Trump, I’m in a wait and see mode. The others lie to us also. I don’t trust any of them these days. At least Trump has the courage to tell it like it is.
I’ve seen Mr. C. Edmund Wright in action. Total BS. Not very good at it either.
