Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley on Friday blasted Texas for denying birth certificates to some U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants without valid identification documents, declaring that citizenship is a human right.
Denying birth certificates to U.S, citizens is not only outrageous, its unconstitutional, the former Maryland governor said in a statement released in English and Spanish.
The 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution could not be clearer. It states that all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside, he said. The Texas Department of State Health services should cease this discriminatory and unconstitutional practice immediately. Citizenship is a human right.
Mr. O'Malley has attempted to challenge Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton on immigration, proposing the most sweeping plans for amnesty and expanding rights for illegal immigrants of any candidate.
A group of 19 illegal immigrant parents and their 23 children have filed suit against the Texas Department of State Health Services after officials refused to issue birth certificates the U.S.-born children, citing invalid forms of identification.

Sure there is. Obama doesn’t obey laws that he doesn’t like.
Texas should do the same.
Diplomats of children born here are not citizens. They are not awarded U.S. Citizenship at birth and their consulates or embassies are expected to issue the proper documentation for their citizens. Why should illegal invaders be given citizenship? Certainly they are even less deserving since they are not legally in the country to begin with .
The 14th amendment was designed for freed slaves, not illegal invaders to use as a way of securing government largess for themselves and their offspring.
You are absolutely correct. Which is why we need to make repeal of the natural born citizenship clause in the 14th amendment an urgent priority. But sadly it is there, and it is crystal clear. Conservatives cannot preach respect for the rule of law and constitutional government while ignoring something this clear.
They are US citizens. It’s not right. But it’s the law. Texas needs to issue them birth certificates. End of discussion.

The article is true. The illegal alien parents don’t have proper ID for Texas to know who they are. Before a birth certificate can be issued, the parents have to be properly identified to prove they are who they say they are. Each father could say he is Donald Trump and there is no way for Texas to know if that is true or not true. Just wander into Texas and have a kid and get a birth certificate saying you are George Carver Washington or Abraham Lincoln or Cinderella Goldenshoe, or show proper ID and get a birth certificate for the kid.

I moved to Texas about a year ago. I went with my husband to get a drivers license. I was told to bring a birth certificate, which I did. When I got to the office I was told I had to have my marriage certificate. So I went back home and got my certificate which luckily I had unpacked and went back to the office. Waited in line for an hour when I fianlly got to the counter I was told I needed to have my divorce decree with me so they could prove who I was. I went back home and got the paper and brought it back and finally got my license.
Yeahh that was before he apologized for saying “All lives matter” what a loser he is.
