On 4/23/2007, Jim Robinson posted a manifesto, "Giuliani as the GOP presidential nominee would be a dagger in the heart of the conservative movement" (and a knife in the back) . The thread was subtitled, "The only difference in a Liberal Rudy Giuliani and Liberal Hillary Clinton is the fact of which bathrooms they select to use and there are some who are willing to even question that.
Yes, the infamous “bug zapper” thread. :-)
nickcarraway, you’re being too simplistic. It’s not necessarily about supporting Trump.
You dont have to support Trump (or Cruz for that matter) to appreciate what they are doing.
When is the last time there were two candidates for President who took on both major political parties and the media while running as Republicans?
Think about that.
If you support Cruz, as I currently do, you see that Trump is making Cruz issues popular with the moderate middle(the old Moral Majority and Reagan Democrats, among others).
At the same time, Cruz is legitimizing Trump’s candidacy with his support and praise for the positions Trump is taking, particularly on border security and illegal aliens and unlawful immigration.
The dynamic between the two men is an interesting one, and well worth watching and encouraging. We may well be witnessing the building of a powerful coalition.
Great post!
I wonder what the response will be...
You are correct, and that is a huge difference. We still had a hangover from the Bush years when we thought we were going to get the country back on track. The disillusionment was swift in coming, but it was cinched once the GOPe won the House and the Senate majorities, and proceeded with alacrity to uphold Hussein’s policies. The SC twisted the knife in our backs.
Trump blamed the 2008 financial crisis on Republicans, when we know full well that it was Clinton policies that caused the housing bubble. Trump has changed his positions on life, taxation and health care 180 degrees in the last six years, when he supported Obama for President. He has had identified with five different political parties since 2001.
But you're right. He's no Romney. Trump's flip-flops make Romney look like Calvin Coolidge.
Well said flaglady47, well said.
Agreed.
His speeches are littered with "I, I, I, me, me, me", along with grand descriptions of accomplishments that eclipse those of everyone else. We rightfully skewer Obama for such unbridled egomania, but for some reason, Trump receives adulation for it.
Let him talk now. It's useful. But he is not fit for the presidency.
One Freeper told me she would vote for him even if he were pro-choice and pro-queer marriage.
I don’t use the term “liberal” anymore when referring to ‘rats and their fellow travellers. There’s no such animal in party politics these days. They are leftists.
Trump changes his politics a lot, the debates will determine where he stands clearly under pressure .
Trump in 1999: ‘I am Very Pro-Choice’ - NBC News
Trump clarified his views on abortion, saying he favors abortion rights, but respects those who oppose his position. I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors, he said.

Now he is Pro Life.
Mitt did the same thing.
Please. Stop it. We don’t need to go through all that again. I want Cruz but I am glad Trump has brought up bad trade deals and the suffering caused by illegals and has stoop up to Bush, McBackstabber and his girlfriend, Lindsay. Glad he has stood up to the media (like Cruz has been doing since elected Senator); especially the Mexican media. I’m glad he’s gotten into the leftist corporate welfare boys who own both parties.
Trump may be a one trick pony as far as appealing to conservatives and populists. He’s got no track record in public service but he’s been all over the map and goes liberal when liberals whip up a frenzy; like joining the liberal hysteria in being against the second amendment, a position which he now renounces saying he is pro gun ownership.
I would bet that he’d go along with giving libs the power to deny rights to anyone who is “mentally ill” and then libs would go on a witch hunt given they control the medical system and all records under Obamacare.
He’ll cut his own throat because although he’s a successful business man, he is not too smart in Western culture and real history and society, politics and law, from a conservative point of view. Cruz knows about all of this.
We needed an anti-Rino - the GOP power structure currently in place. It’s wrecking the country and is corrupt. Trump’s breaking all their “polite” rules in an extreme way and opening the door to Cruz to approach taboo subjects that are hurting Americans but that Rinos don’t want to discuss and change.
Go, Trump, GO!! Diss the RINOs and make them cry.
Well said. Far more eloquently than my original post. Thanks,
And lets not forget who he anointed to follow him as Mayor of NYC (ugh!)
BTTT !
... and then there were the “Crevo Wars,” running almost simultaneously and with many of the same screen names. Their anti-site was Darwin Central. FR was a very busy and contentious place at the time.
You know man I’d wager at least half of today’s Freepers don’t know our history like you do
The zenith of the Crevo Wars was Mineral Mans opus which was trumpeted along the left wing forums as a sign we were dead here
Mineral Man subsequently went to Clown Posse and was feted as a person of import there
He was purely a cultural leftist plain and simple who wanted fiscal restraint
Boy Nolu Chan as just one old man who loved the South even though he no longer lived here absolutely throttle Clown Posse and caused them to run scared and close shop overnight
They shouldn’t have messed with him
He’d have to be 80 now God love him
Don’t forget about Liberty Post back in the day. Lots of antiFReep going on there.
