The Des Moines Register says Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has denied press credentials to its reporters after the newspaper published an editorial calling on the billionaire businessman to end his campaign.
The Register says its reporters were denied credentials to a Trump campaign event in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on Saturday. The newspaper says Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told its reporters they were being excluded because of the editorial.
In the editorial, published Tuesday, the newspaper called Trump a “feckless blowhard” who is “unfit to hold office.”
Register editor Amalie Nash emphasized Friday that the paper’s editorial board is independent of its news reporters and editors. Nash urged the Trump campaign to “revisit its decision instead of making punitive decisions because we wrote something critical of him.”

He is doing it for their childish name calling. He doesn’t care that they disagree with him. But if they can’t act more mature than an average elementary school bully then don’t waste his time. That’s how I see it. Obama does not allow room for disagreement. Trump just doesn’t want to deal with dishonest name callers. He’s used to being boss and firing people who give sub standard performance.

The MSM has been on the receiving end of the stick for the entire Obama administration. Since day 1, the Obama press handlers have made it clear to the news organizations covering the White House they will be denied access and stories if they are critical of the President. As a result the media has failed to pursue stories of corruption or ask the president tough questions during interviews. The few times they come close to asking an embarrassing question of the WH press secretary, the WH spokesman gives a snarky response meant to shut them down, which it does.
The few times Obama sits down with a reporter one-on-one the questions are clearly carefully crafted, screened in advance by the WH, and responded to with a carefully scripted answer by Obama. Lighting and camera angle are all staged to make Obama look his best. These are propaganda productions, not unscripted interviews. The press is completely compliant.
What Trump is doing is no different from Obama. He is telling the press if you cross me in the least, I’ll freeze you out. Exactly how many times has Obama been interviewed on Fox News in six years? How many times does a senior cabinet official from the Obama administration show up on the Fox Sunday morning show?
The media all too well understands the stick.
