Watch as ICE Director Is Forced to Tell Ted Cruz He’s ‘Absolutely Right’ After He Disputes Her Clai

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) interrogated the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director in a contentious exchange during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration policy on Tuesday.

One particularly interesting back-and-forth occurred when ICE Director Sarah Saldana disputed Cruz’s assertion that the Obama administration released 104,000 “criminal illegal aliens.”

“When I asked you how many criminals ICE released in 2013, you were off by a factor of three,” Cruz said. “You said 30,000 — the correct answer is 104,000.”

Saldana argued she thought she was asked about 2014 and claimed the number was actually 30,558 released illegal aliens that were not prosecuted. The “good news is,” she continued, “at least that went down from 2013.”

“But you’re omitting the 68,000 criminal illegal aliens that ICE did not begin deportation proceedings against at all,” Cruz shot back. “You’ve got to add both of those together — it’s over 100,000.”

Saldana then admitted, “Yes sir, that’s absolutely right.”

She added, “All done pursuant to this statute that Congress has outlined.”

Watch the exchange below:

During the hearing, Cruz also stated that of the 88,000 convictions against illegal immigrants released in 2013, 193 had homicide convictions, 426 had sexual assault convictions and over 16,000 had drunk or drugged driving convictions.

He delivered a passionate statement about the victims who have been murdered by illegal immigrants in the U.S., including Kate Steinle.

“There are too many politicians in Washington that talk a good game but don’t act. If you want to honor Josh [Wilkerson], if you want to honor Kate Steinle, start enforcing the law and stop releasing murderers, and rapists, and drunk drivers,” he said. “I don’t want to hear from the Obama administration they’re sorry while they continue to do the exact same thing because what we know – more people will be murdered, more people will be raped, more people will be killed by drunk drivers because this Administration refuses to enforce the law. That is wrong. No man is above the law, and that includes President Obama.”

He concluded with the following statement: ”It is within your power to follow federal law. And this administration refuses to do so, and that is altogether unacceptable.”

And of course she walked right out of those hearing, went back to her office and continued to do EXACTLY what she had been doing. You can only influence a person’s actions if you have the power to inflict some type of punishment on them. These hearings are great for harvesting campaign sound bites but nothing more.

Something has given Ted the freedom to stay on the job and not be out campaigning. Could it be his meeting in NYC recently?

It speaks volumes that a post such as I made, straight up liberalism 101, can be taken seriously.

And what it speaks is that enough Freepers actually post stuff like that on Free Republic in seriousness that people think it’s serious.

Sure they are, because you say so, right?

They have nothing to do with constitutionally mandated oversight, right?

The only reason they aren't being punishment is the traitorous GOP-E leadership in charge.

Why? I hit every anti-cruz liberal talking point that applies. It SHOULD be screamingly obvious. That either means it’s sarcasm or I’m a flaming liberal.

Now like I said above, whats sad is not that someone mistook it as serious. It is sad that on the most conservative site there is, supposedly, that posts like that happen often enough that ARE serious...that people think it is.

Which is the ENTIRE reason I do it.

So what is *Cruz* doing now? A sternly worded letter, or another hearing? This time there will be with only a half pitcher of cold water for the people testifying.

Kabuki...

Cruz is doing his job.

It's called constitutionally mandated oversight, checks and balances, but maybe that is just too complicated for you to understand, right?

Cruz can only question it is the leadership, the GOP-E, that has the power to do something. They won't because the GOP Leadership are traitors.

It’s an impeachable offense is what it is, not just unacceptable .

This heinous act that this President and others continue to perpetrate must be prosecuted

Glad to see Cruz bring this up, people need to go to jail over this

I do not have a problem with Senator Cruz exposing the lies and corruption of this administration.... What is going to be done about the lawlessness of the political class???? Talk is cheap, and I have discovered as long as a person is talking they are winning. The illegal invasion has not been slowed, let alone stopped. Just wait until Francis comes and speaks in the peoples house... Boehner will NOT pull any liberal funding and we are sinking into one ugly mass.

I guess electing lesser evil no matter what to lead the House and Senate probably was a bad idea huh...

No matter. None of the liberal garbage that screamed for it will admit their mistake and instead will work to ensure more of it just to spite conservatives that voted intelligently.
