U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is highlighting clarified guidance for those immigrants wishing to omit portions of the citizenship oath. USCIS explained Tuesday that while reciting the Oath of Allegiance is part of the naturalization process, immigrant candidates for citizenship may omit portions of the oath if they have certain religious or conscientious objections. I think Boehner spends most of his days drinking with the lobbyists from the various business organizations and McConnell perfects the art of hiding. There is no focal point in the Republican Party in Congress, only the errand boys for the corporate interests who are much louder in their denunciations of the party’s base than of the opposition party and the crap like this they are adopting, unchallenged. McCain, for instance, never spares words in calling the Tea Party members names yet I remember a few months ago he said some garbage to Harry Reid, who had just cleaned the Senate Republicans clocks, about “can’t you just lighten up on us every now and then and play fair”? A real fighter for his or her principles would have torn into Reid’s positions and protected his own flank; McCain, Boehner and his minions in the House, and McConnell are all cut from the same cloth.

The citizenship oath is codified in 8 USC 1448, as implementation of a Public Law passed by Congress and signed by the President of the United States.
The President has no authority to change US Code.
Unfortunately, we have no one in Congress or the USSC to call him out on this.

The Selective Service law. While nobody’s been drafted in a long time, the law is still on the books. Conscientious objectors can be required to perform non-combat service.
