US Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) on Monday lashed out at Senate colleague and presidential hopeful Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over his support for real-estate mogul and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
In a tweet on Monday, McCaskill compared Cruz to a "lost puppy" hoping to scoop up Trump's followers if he implodes on the campaign trail.
There's something unseemly about Cruz following Trump around like a lost puppy, hoping to get his leftovers when he finally flames out.

Cruz has recently cozied up to the real-estate magnate. He met with Trump in New York last week. He has been perhaps the most prominent GOP defender of Trump's controversial comments about Mexican immigrants. And on Saturday, he refused to denounce Trump's disparaging comments about Sen. John McCain's (R-Arizona) military record.
Analysts have speculated that Cruz's embrace of Trump is likely part of a larger strategy to tap into the populist rage within the conservative base on which Trump has capitalized.
Politico notes that Trump is likely siphoning away support for Cruz, whose scorched-earth conservative tactics have made him similarly popular with the Republican base at the expense of the his relationship with the GOP establishment. There's lingering resentment from some Republicans in Congress over the 2013 government shutdown that Cruz helped orchestrate.

Okay, but he is still head and shoulders above the others.
Some details are now emerging that McCain might not have endured that time heroically.
Ted Cruz is a decent man. Last I heard he had the same freedoms this person does.
If you disagree with someone, state so and why.
Stooping to third grade tactics doesn’t impress most adults.
Cruz isn’t afraid to acknowledge good policy.
We see evidence here, that some people sure are.
Yet another vapid idiot reinforcing reinforcing the Sammich meme. Except I wouldn’t trust her with peanut butter, jelly or bread either.
Well, where Ted IS .. he’s still getting very long; standing ovations.
I’d hardly call that “lost puppy” -ISH
My my, how quickly they pounce .. proving their stupidity.
Scorched earth?
I do believe that was Hillary at Trump’s most recent wedding, like a little puppy.
What garbage.
Which one of you Democrats is going to debate that puppy? Hmmmmm......? No one? No one? Thought so.
Ted needs to grow a pair and get into the fight. The fight is now Ted what are you going to do?
RE: That fat old lezbo!
I think nowadays with the SCOTUS decision and the Oregon Christian bakers being persecuted, democrats actually take that as a compliment.
Rat Senator calls Hispanic Senator a Dog!
It might be good strategy to make a quick comment and move on to the undeniable stuff like McCain being best buddies with ISIS members in Syria and his other horrible failures as US Senator. Maybe side hit pieces about how he came home from VN and deserted his disabled wife for an heiress.
The problem with not agreeing he was a "hero" is that the way hero is defined today, anyone who breaks a fingernail helping someone is a hero.
Personally, I don't think anyone is a hero for being captured, and that person should be described as a survivor if they got out alive, unless they did something impressive in captivity. It should have to reach that impressive level to he "heroic". But the word has been so dumbed down, there's no point in arguing about whether McCain was a hero in his captivity....unless you have facts to prove he wasn't.
This flatulent rectum was elected to Missouri’s ever-lasting shame.
Nonsense.
Watch out—this puppie bites! and so does Trump! say what you want—this team is a powerhouse—No wonder the Democrats tremble!
I’m sure millions of voters have been waiting on this airhead to express an opinion about Ted Cruz before deciding what to think of his candidacy.
Cruz has proven himself a gracious opponent as he has welcomed each and every rival into the race. He has yet to attack any other Repub as far as I can recall.
And he has refrained from dumping on Trump as all the others have done. Really, he has been saying the same thing as Trump, saying it better, all along. Cruz says it better, but Trump says it louder in such a way that the media can’t ignore him and filter him out.
