Donald Trump Not Sorry for Comments, Not Dropping Out
Wall Street Journal ^ | 7/19/15 | LOUISE RADNOFSKY and SARAH PORTLOCK

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday he’s not sorry and he’s not withdrawing from the race over remarks he made about Arizona Sen. John McCain‘s status as a war hero.

Mr. Trump drew fire after he said Saturday that Mr. McCain, the party’s 2008 presidential standard-bearer who spent five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, was “not a war hero.” Mr. Trump explained his dislike of seeing Mr. McCain was described that way by saying that Mr. McCain was “a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The New York developer and entertainer drew broad condemnation from GOP competitors for his comments. Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called on Mr. Trump to end “slanderous attacks,” and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry called for Mr. Trump to drop out of the race.

“I’m certainly not pulling out,” Mr. Trump told ABC’s This Week on Sunday morning.

Mr. Trump said he wasn’t apologizing, “not at all” and said it was disgruntled rivals who had stirred up a controversy over his remarks. “This whole thing was brought up by a lot of the people that are competing against me currently that aren’t even registering in the polls because people are tired of them.”

“I’m certainly not pulling out; I’m leading and I’m leading in many states,” he said.

Stop and think, consider things.

Trump and Cruz.

Do you really think trump would consider Cruz ready to be President? Seriously think that?

I don’t.

Trump likes Cruz, but I’d bet he judges him to be an apprentice president, not yet ready for the real thing.

Seriously, Trump cannot afford to be POTUS. Besides the pay cut, he would have to divest himself of all his assets. That ain't happening.

I haven't read that part of the Constitution (the one that requires a President to divest oneself of all assets.)

Do newspapers/magazines quit production whenever they “misspeak”? I didn’t think so. So why do they expect Trump to quit?

Because "they" are creatures of habit (the media and the regular politicians that is) and are playing by rules that don't apply to Trump. The usual politician is beholden to his/her money supporters. By piling on they can usually dry up the money and send the would be candidate into a tail spin worried if they'll be able to keep their current job much less continue to run for President.

The money supporters use mistakes as a gauge for whether the candidate is ready or not.

Trump is fully funded, he would have to stop supporting himself. This early in the campaign he could make a real mistake and still have a shot at the nomination. None of the other candidates can do that.

Trump is giving them all they can handle and more.

He's doing a HUGE service to America's middle class by articulating the popular rage that has, until this point, NOT been spoken openly and publicly on the National stage.

As far as I'm concerned Mr. Trump can turn up the flamethrower even higher. The HOTTER the better.

From an other tread

Yes he is a Chamber of Commerce guy, they all are except Trump. They have to be Chamber of Commerce guys because that is where most of the $$$$ comes from to fund a winning campaign. Walker is the CoC number 1 backup candidate should Jeb fail miserably with the primary voters. There are other backup candidates like Perry, Linda, Chirsty, etc.

The CoC nightmare candidate is Trump. Trump must be stopped by any means. They would be unhappy with either of the Wacko Birds too (Paul, Cruz) but the idea of Trump getting elected makes their heads explode.

The CoC had everything planed to perfection. Jeb vrs Hillary, win win for the CoC since there is not a dine worth of policy difference between the two. And then along came the 10 billion dollar man, Donald Trump. He ruined everything. He can't be bought, he can't be bribed, he's not politically correct and horror of horrors he tells the truth!

The word is out, attack Trump or lose the big money donors the CoC controls. Which is why there appears to be a contest to see who can best attack Trump. Even Cruz joined in by praising John McCain and stating he was "proud to serve along side him". Now this is the same McCain that called Cruz and "wacko bird" on the Senate floor, called the voters that elected Crux "tea party hobbits" and just recently called his own constituents in Az "crazies" for supporting Trump.

If the CoC has enough power to make Cruz kiss McCain butt they are a force to be taken very seriously.
