Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday hes not sorry and hes not withdrawing from the race over remarks he made about Arizona Sen. John McCains status as a war hero.
Mr. Trump drew fire after he said Saturday that Mr. McCain, the partys 2008 presidential standard-bearer who spent five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, was not a war hero. Mr. Trump explained his dislike of seeing Mr. McCain was described that way by saying that Mr. McCain was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who werent captured.
The New York developer and entertainer drew broad condemnation from GOP competitors for his comments. Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called on Mr. Trump to end slanderous attacks, and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry called for Mr. Trump to drop out of the race.
Im certainly not pulling out, Mr. Trump told ABCs This Week on Sunday morning.
Mr. Trump said he wasnt apologizing, not at all and said it was disgruntled rivals who had stirred up a controversy over his remarks. This whole thing was brought up by a lot of the people that are competing against me currently that arent even registering in the polls because people are tired of them.
Im certainly not pulling out; Im leading and Im leading in many states, he said.

If he said things differently no one would be talking about it.
There is a pattern
1 Get peoples attention. Say something wild
2 wait while enemies take side against you and expose themselves
Release the truth You gain ;they loose
Here are all of these GOP hopefuls, each with one or two strong issues they can aim at Hillary, and here they are so easily diverted to squabble among their own.
You guys all need to grow up here. Trump is way ahead in the “plain speak” derby.
No wonder the GOPe is clutching their pearls.
First they have to find their pearls before they can clutch.
That’s a good way to look at it. It is working and Trump is smart enough to change when it gets turned on him. I seriously think we’ve got someone here who can carry forward all the way to the White House and not be beholden or pander to any group. About time.
I’ve heard the clip......and as usual it’ s NOT the what the media is gleefully portraying it to be.
They think it’s a Got ya.....and it’s not.
Don ‘t lose sight they want to destroy Donald Trump
Oh so nice to see somebody with intestinal fortitude these days. The politically correct destroyers of our country will wake up to realize too late that the average American is sick and tired of politicians playing patty-cake. Good for Trump. We need a fighter and looks like maybe we got one.
Spine? Check!
Balls? Check!
No wonder the GOPe is clutching their pearls.
.....................................................
I don’t really think the Establishment has any pearls left. Ain’t it sweet?
Donald Trump may cure my “battered Republican” syndrome.
Cue Obama and Stephanopolous. “My Muslim faith...”
Hey Nick, who are you supporting now? It’s not Cruz so who is it?
No bastard ever won a war by Becoming a POW for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard become a POW for his country.
Thank you for the clip. About what I expected and it makes more sense now.
Agreed.
I’ve seen the clip now. The media and the other Repubs are looking for anything to disqualify Trump. The quote is misleading without the rest of the text where he says he IS a war hero for being caputured. Trump has very little respect for McCain. He’s not alone.
"I apologize for using an old joke that liberal Democrats used against McCain when he was running for president in 2000. I realize now that Democrats intended the line as a mean spirited attack on veterans, something that I never intended. I promise never again to act like a Democrat."
Thanks, I’ve seen it now. It’s not what they make it out to be. Problem is, the media and the other candidates are going to stick with the edited version and hang it around Trump’s neck.
lol....Maybe he needs to come up with another wild statement and they’ll forget all about this one!
Poor GOPe. Yesterday, led by the hysterical, hyperventilating Stephen Hayes, they believed the biggest threat to comprehensive immigration reform was down and out.
Today Trump comes storming back with the promise of exposing yet more GOPe corruption—this time re the VA. Between fury and frustration, the GOPers must be fit to be tied.
My heart is like an alligator.
The same idiots who called on Al Franken to drop out of his senate race after he said the same thing about McCain
Good one
And to add that he would never give McCain or Governor Palin or anyone the finger during a debate, like obama did
Trump intends to show them all what a real hero does. Many of them have never encountered a true hero before.
