Lots of Donald Trumps Republican presidential candidates have already shredded him for his comments about John McCain, but Rick Perry came out swinging by calling for Trump to basically GTFO.
In case you missed it, the draft-defering Trump attacked McCain today over his war hero status because, Hes a war hero cause he was captured. I like people that werent captured.
Now, for some unbelievable reason, lots of conservatives including the aforementioned candidates thought Trump crossed a line.
Perry was the first to release a statement on The Donalds latest rambling, this one really going for the jugular (emphasis his):
Donald Trump should apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country. As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country. I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics. His attack on veterans make him unfit to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for President.
For the record, when Trump was asked if he plans to apologize, he said no.
But my point is, he can grovel and weep buckets of tears and it will not improve anything. In fact, an apology will be scrutinized and turned into another insult, lol, and the media frenzy will go into another somersault. So, he needs to suck it up and move on. Or, double down, of course. That’s always an option for The Donald.
There is not going to be much if any support for Trump's comments here. Perry may be bandwagoning, but my guess is this is probably the beginning of the end of the Trump nonsense.
Trump can criticize McCain 24/7 for being a CRAP politician, but his military service is not something he should be attacking, there were MANY good men who suffered horrible torture in captivity and to say you don’t like them because they were captured is an ignorant statement in the least
You’re dreaming if you think he’ll close it....Trumps as much a business Globalist as Perry....Texas is earmarked for trade routes from S. America north to Canada......it will never be closed.
Trump is a business man who loves to make money...do not loose site of that...which will include our southern border being “secured” not “closed...ever.
Bet Perry can’t give you three reasons Trump should bail.
I don’t think he’s afraid of Trump. He’s trying to get into Trump’s picture. I was once in a restaurant where Ronald Reagan was having his photo taken with some of the people involved in the O.J. Simpson trial. Out of nowhere - absolutely nowhere!!! - Milton Berle stuck his head between Reagan and the other two. That’s our Perry.
Trump could have said it better but I know what he meant and McCain deserved it.
McCain makes disparaging remarks about conservative Americans with impunity and it’s about time someone called him on it. The Media/’Rat Party/GOPe Complex will make a big stink over this but I couldn’t care less. Sound and Fury signifying nothing.
As for Rick Perry, no one cares what you have to say, Rick. No one.
No Trump may not be a gracious adversary. He can sometimes indulge in vulgarisms & blunt, as opposed to agile, insults. But his recent behavior has been many times more clearly on the side of an American future, than the antics of the McCains and Grahams--and Gov. Perry, I am sorry to have to say, appears to think those antics perfectly acceptable.
Perry has the little man complex.
The horse racing jockeys love him, they get to work on Perry’s staff when the retire from racing.
I hope that Trump hangs in for a while longer. I’d like to see him continue to put some pressure on the other candidates and give Cruz a chance to make some headway. With Trump taking most of the flak, Cruz doesn’t have to work as hard to get his message out and gain some name recognition.
And imagine how Lindsay will cry
LOL
That stragedy ain’t gonna work, hoss! RiNO McCain should be called out at every opportunity. Calling him a dummy is not PC, but obviously has the desired effect.
Two thoughts on this.
What political person do you know of that doesn't craft their speech to the type of audience they will be addressing? I don't know of a single one.
And this opposed to Jeb Bush, who says everything that will offend the people he's trying to win over.
So my choice is Jeb Bush or another (R) who will ABSOLUTELY NOT do what I want them to do, or Trump who just may.
I consider a person who will vote for the same old horse "stuff" to be the real sucker. They're all a pack of liars. None of them are the real deal.
I'm not convinced Trump is either, but at least I don't have to lie to myself about it.
This old line of Trump playing folks for suckers is about as idiotic as it gets, considering what the other (so-called) Republicans are playing folks for.
I think Cruz will distance himself from Trump now considering these comments. I don’t think he’ll have any choice.
Say what?
He couldn’t remember one of the 3 cabinet level departments he said he would eliminate as potus.
Cruz is very bright. He’ll manage it gracefully.
Trump is totally not a personality cult.
