Sen. Ted Cruz said Saturday that it is "asinine" that TV Land pulled "The Dukes of Hazzard" after widespread calls for the Confederate flag to come down.
"I think the cancellation of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' is utterly asinine and an example of corporate Americas embrace of political correctness to a degree that is ridiculous," Cruz said in an interview with The Washington Post.
"Im curious if the Torquemadas seeking to ban 'The Dukes of Hazzard' from our TV sets are equally exercised by all of the leftist college students with posters of Che Guevara in their college dorm rooms," Cruz said, referring to Tomas de Torquemada, who served as the first grand inquisitor of Spain.
Cruz visited South Carolina for the first time since Gov. Nikki Haley (R) called for the removal of the Confederate flag from near the state capitol in the wake of of the shooting deaths of nine people at a historic African American church in Charleston. Photos have surfaced of the alleged shooter, Dylann Roof, posing with the Confederate flag. Since then, a backlash has grown against the flag, with Alabama removing it from its state capitol and retailers pulling merchandise that displays the banner.
Two of Cruz's campaign co-chairs, South Carolina state Sen. Lee Bright and state Rep. Bill Chumley, have said that they will fight to keep the flag at a state house memorial.
The Texas Republican said that he has not spoken to Bright and Chumley; Cruz's campaign said last month they are going to "stand by" Bright and Chumley.
Bright likened the removal of the flag to a "Stalinist purge."
"Its not just the flag, Bright said in an interview with Politico last month. They want to take down the Confederate monuments; Ive gotten e-mails from people who (snip)

I just gotta say ‘Assinine’ is such a prime word for a campaign like this AND for TVLand pulling the Dukes of Hazzard
Woo-HOO!
The next year and a half are going to be a delight.
Yes, yes it is, Ted.
Uhh... I think he meant "exorcised," not "exercised."
And even that isn't really right. Unless we're in Linda Blair territory.
Meanwhile All In The Family reruns still air with the bigoted rhetoric of Archie Bunker on full display.
Ted is so great!
Absolutely!!
The Duke boys (and girl) are being thrown under the bus so democrats can keep racism alive and well for the 2015 elections. same thing with the confederate flag and those confederate statues. They want to force us to fight this battle, their battle, because the battle ground favors them. It’s nothing but race bait.
Could it be that the Marxists are cut from the same cloth as the islamist terrorists. I see a lot of similarities.
The Wash Poo had to explain who Torquemada is yet left unsaid just why Senator Cruz was bringing up Che Guevara... Che's own text had bigoted things to say about black people and Mexican people yet it can still be purchased at Amazon, Walmart, and ebay. Hypocrisy on display.
LOL.
Oh yeah, you’re right!
BRING IT ON!
Mao Takes Manhattan: Empire State Building Goes Red and Yellow for China
September 30, 2009
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China under Communist rule and Mao's 1949 revolution, the Chinese will hold a military parade in Beijing on Thursday of unparalleled size -- 5,000 soldiers, 43,000 fireworks and a display of 52 new weapons -- followed by a civilian parade of 100,000 marchers and 60 floats, many chanting new nationalistic mantras coined by the Chinese government for the occasion.
For a nation that worships Mao, and the path of development and prosperity the Chinese people believe he charted, nothing less would do to commemorate its 60th anniversary.
But when it comes to the commemoration of China's 60th anniversary in the U.S., perhaps we could -- and should -- expect a little less.
Wednesday night in New York City, the Empire State Building will illumine its familiar spire with red and yellow lights in honor of Communist China. The Communism-themed color scheme will stay lit through Thursday night, much to the delight of China's consular officials, who were on hand for a ceremony in the lobby of the iconic building Wednesday morning, and to the acute dismay of the dozen or so protesters outside, and to many Americans who question whether honoring China's Communist revolution here is at all appropriate.

Cruz is not just another republican politician. We need to support this guy.
Are they still showing The Cosby Show ?
So that will give some left wing nutjob an idea to hold up the American flag and then go out and do some outrage. Will that cause the American flag to be outlawed. It is in some areas ....
