Sen. Ted Cruz shut down Univision anchor and Fusion TV host Jorge Ramos on illegal immigration, by turning a gotcha question around into a gotcha answer, and giving the host a lesson on the rule of law.
I think rule of law matters, the Texas Republican said on Tuesdays edition of Fusion TVs America with Jorge Ramos.
After the two volleyed the immigration issue back and forth, presidential candidate Cruz asked Ramos — an open advocate of legalizing the millions of illegals currently in the country — what happen to an American who crossed illegally into Mexico.
When Ramos admitted that Mexican authorities the American would be deported, Cruz slammed the ball for the win.
So why should the United States not enforce our laws? Cruz asked.
Ramos talked, but never answered the question.
Game, set and match.
“Listen, I believe in the rule of law. I think we should welcome and celebrate legal immigrants,” Cruz said.
He couldn’t have had a better message, or a better setting.

“Listen, I believe in the rule of law”
I do too Ted, but rest assured obama and the libs are trying to “fix” the law for US.

Sigh
Ted, they’re illegal aliens not immigrants...
stop calling them immigrants
what they do to enter our country illegally and stay here illegally has nothing to do with immigration...
no part of their progress after going through our borders illegally is remotely connected to immigration..
don’t let their enablers continue to cloud the issue and make the rules and nomenclature..
I think, Mr. Cruz, you are the only Republican at the national level that believes in the rule of law.
Great ‘Gotcha Answer’!
Wonder how Ted will handle Hillary when she plays victim to all his slam-sunk debate points; and you know she will.
[[Listen, I believe in the rule of law]]
Question is Ted- do you believe in it so much that you are willing to IMPEACH the supreme court justices who VIOLATED the law and abused their position of power by legislating from the bench on the last two issues?
Will ANY candidate stand up to the supreme court bullies?
Given the court's rulings this past week, no one has any idea how the court may rule in the future-- utter lawlessness.
IMHO, no one can complain then that state nullification will introduce "anarchy," when the court itself has done such a good job of doing just that.
LOL I pity the fool who has to face him in a debate.
Congrats to Ted. But that was way too easy. Ted needs a bigger ball park. And higher fences.
On Cruz control till Jan 20, 2017.
CRUZ: It's pure politics. The Framers, when they wrote the constitution, they believed the check on judicial overreach. The Framers wrote about judicial overreach quite a bit. They believed the check would be impeachment. Now, here is the sad reality. Within a few decades Thomas Jefferson said impeachment had been not even a scarecrow. Even 200 years ago the Supreme Court wasn't afraid of it.
Today, we have a United States Senate we can't muster 50 votes to defeat Loretta Lynch, an Attorney General who tells us she is not going to follow the law or the constitution. There's no universe in which there are 67 votes to remove [Justice] Anthony Kennedy from the Supreme Court.
That drives me absolutely crazy as well, I wouldn’t even call them illegal aliens, I call them enemies of the United states which would classify anyone who supports them as traitors. They are foreign nationals directly attacking the security of the country.
Carly Fiorina, who probably won't last through the primary season is currently Hillary's worst enemy. She will continue to go right at her, in a sense standing with Cruz and Trump while the others pussy foot around the media gotcha strategy. As long as Carly stays on the stage she will raise questions and make points that continue to keep liberal spinners awake at night.
And if Congress or SCOTUS, or even the executive grants amnesty to those who entered the country illegally, isn't that too, according to "the rule of law?"
As long as "whatever it is" gets stamped with "rule of law," it's acceptable? Is that the standard? I think not. Cruz better watch out, because that "rule of law" cudgel swings in wild directions.
Ted Cruz can't impeach anybody by himself...but you already know that!
Why ask him to do something that will never happen ?
Might as well ask him why he can't take a walk on the moon...
Cruz calling for their impeachment would simply give the progressive left the ammo they need to paint him as even more extreme...
Also consider a majority of Americans actually agree with the court...
Thanks for that
