Yes churches existed before tax exemptions. But there is no question that these expected actions will hurt the finances of religions. It will take away resources from the charitable and humanitarian work done by religious denominations.

A church without a tax exemption can lobby freely in government and can support political candidates, too.

Just something to think about ...

>>Churches existed before tax exemptions.<<

Not true. Church tax exemptions were built into the Income Tax. Tax exemptions and taxes came into existence at the same times.

Churches actually have more constitutional rights if they don’t register as a 501 c 3 organization.

“churches existed before tax exemptions”

Well ... tax exemption for churches began in 1894 when the federal income tax rate was at 2% and less than 10% of the people paid it. A far cry from where it is now.

All churches need to give up the tax exempt status. Very few make a profit anyway.

Churches existed before tax exemptions.

Maybe I’m not rich enough for it to make a difference but I’ve never considered tax exemptions when donating. There will still be some ways for cashless donations. Property taxes will be the killer as many many churches sit on very expensive land.
