Longtime Democratic strategist Bob Shrum said on MSNBC Friday that he “cannot imagine the horror that could’ve unfolded” if churchgoers were armed during the recent massacre in Charleston, South Carolina.
Nine people were slaughtered on Wednesday night after suspected gunman Dylann Roof allegedly opened fire in the historically black church. Only three people survived, including a grandmother who played dead and laid on top of her granddaughter to protect her.
Roof reportedly had time to reload his gun several times.
“I cannot imagine the horror that could’ve occurred if people were sitting around with concealed weapons, this thing started and you had a full-scale gunfight,” Shrum said Friday. “You might not even have three survivors.”
He went on to say that “this is going to be a big issue” in the 2016 Democratic primaries. Watch the video via MSNBC:

His logic is entirely lost on me....if there had been even 1 law abiding citizen there, we in all probability, would not have 9 dead people....
Yeah, right, you expect us to believe that???? We all know that guns kill people.....you must have had all nice guns.
Had some members of the congregation been packing, the shooter would surely be dead and many innocent people would be alive. The Democrat Party and its wholly owned subsidiaries, the dinosaur media and punditocracy, would have been deprived of yet another opportunity to decry our sick 'gun culture,' and worst of all, a good guy with a gun would have killed a bad guy with one.
For the carrion feeders like Bob Shrum and his ilk, fewer dead black people would have been a truly horrendous outcome.
We have now the spectacle of fools like the president of the Southern Poverty Law Center bloviating about racist killings while ignoring the 200 million murdered by his socialist political soul mates of the 260 million murdered by government types between 1917 and 1987? Or ignoring the 1,300 million abortions committed by his socialist political soul mates around the world since 1980?
The biggest risk to life and liberty any citizen faces is from his own government or, if unborn, from his own mother. And yet they try to ramp up the hysteria about “lone wolf” killers whose body count over the past century is literally less than a millionth of those put to death in the name of socialism and womyn’s empowerment.
If the Jews and the Kulaks and the Chinese murdered by Mao were sufficiently armed and willing to use it, they wouldn’t be dead not except for natural causes.
And how many abortions would there be if the unborn could exercise their right to self-protection in such a way that if mommy dearest offed them, then mommy dearest would follow them down the tubes shortly thereafter?
It is the weak, the unarmed, and the unwilling to fight that are ground to dust by the political opportunists and the self-centered.
If this is taken too lazily or sloppily you end up with something that looks exactly like the world.
If Bob "The Fag" Shrum had been there with his grandchildren, he would have been happy to use them as human shields to lessen HIS bloodshed.
This happened in Boiling Springs, NC in 2012. The assailant was wounded by a CC church member, and no one else was shot.
There was an incident in Asheville, Nc where the assailant was take. Down by two parishioners who were Concealed Carry. Again, only the invader was shot.
I SC you can’t legally take a gun into a church.

I think I recall a statistic that a cop is 11 times more likely to hit a bystander than an armed citizen.
As a lifelong every week shooter, NRA shooting instructor with all three types, and a competitive handgun and shotgun shooter, I’d agree. 90% of law enforcement officers are less trained with a gun than the average guy off the street. They are lousy shooters, unless they are gun enthusiasts by nature, which some are.
Actually, I think we have two incidents. None of that information (about killing in parking lot) was happening in the event I’m talking about. While they may have some similar things; but all in all, they are very different.
