The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

That would be a start but not enough. It will take more.

He is only now coming out

I'm not sure what that means.

Would a career bureaucrat who's been on the government payroll 20 years be better?

BTW, If I can be honest, I'd say his timing is right on schedule. Considering the mood of many Americans, it's close to perfect. ☺

Well yes. The voting citizens do not elect the president. The president is elected by the politicians in power (state by state) through the delegate process. The popular vote is just eye wash

In order for Trump ( or any candidate ) to win, they must get the delegates.

People think Perot swayed the election ? what a joke ! he may have swayed the popular vote count but not the election. The elections are decided in a struggle between the two parties who are swayed by their constituents who are the lobyests (not the citizens)

Another Perot comparison? That was a different era. The landscape is very different today. Many Americans in what's left of middle America are not too happy. With anything. The mood soured. It's no a secret.

It's how we got to where we are. This guy pressed all the buttons and resonated with a whole lot of people. Good timing.

I'd pay to watch these folks attempt to bar, censor and use their machine to stop him from being a player at this point. Remove the guy everyone wants see and hear? What a hoot!

And leave them with 12 career bureaucrats standing on the stage.

That should go over really well.

If a few of the best candidates move off with time, I would vote for Trump because he is not an ignorant, arrogant politicians like the DC crowd of worthless men and women are right now.
Trump would have the leaders in the Congress replaced with Conservatives, I bet.

America has done worse.

I have not read most of these comments yet, but here’s my take on Trump. At first I agreed with people like Jen Rubin and Rich Lowery, who see a Trump candidacy as wholly negative, because of all the wrong kinds of tabloidish attention it will bring to the debates and campaigns, and resources and attention it may suck away from more worthy and thoughtful candidates(such as my favorite, Ted Cruz).

But after a few days of listening to callers, some who seem to admire Trump, on talk radio, particularly Mark Levin, I now don’t think it’s a bad thing to have him in the race. He is giving the other candidates an idea of the kind of issues, such as immigration, that are really concerning people, and will probably steer more of the debates to those subjects. He talks in a very plain and frank way, too, something people hunger for, after hearing so much politically correct bibble babble, and seeing anybody who doesn’t talk that way punished severely.

Now that being said, the business with Trump University a few years back is troubling to me. It’s easy to google this story and I recommend that anybody who’s considering endorsing him do so because it speaks to his character.

I had another thought this morning too. I think that the moderate RINO types(who seem most upset by his candidacy) might want to rein themselves in and not give him the satisfaction of pushing their buttons so much. I don’t really believe that his candidacy is part of a bigger conspiracy(concerning Hillary, for example) but it’s remotely possible. I think it behooves them not to let on they’re so spooked, just in case.

Things are just crazy enough that he could emerge as another Perot.

Will he pull out at the last minute as goofy Perot did?

"Would a career bureaucrat who's been on the government payroll 20 years be better?"

Did I mention being a government worker in my post? If not, don't put those words in my mouth. An example would be Ronald Reagan, before running for governor of California he had been in the conservative fight for 20 years, testifying before HUAC, supporting conservative candidates and causes and helping other politicians during their campaigns. None of this was done on the government dime.

Name the conservative candidate he has campaigned for in the past? Name the candidates he has given generous sums of money to not named Hillary Clinton. My examples in my post were the Koch brothers and Rush Limbaugh. They haven't worked for the government. He's been more interested in campaigning against Rosie O'Donnel than Hillary Clinton these past number of years. He's an attention seeking hound who wants to be up on stage during the debates.

Here's something else to chew on dragnet2. In his 2000 book, Donald Trump was for universal healthcare.

Trump for universal healthcare

Is that the type of conservatism you want from your presidential candidate?

It’s Trump vs the Politicians.

Combined, the current crop of politician candidates have been on the government payroll for 275 years.

"It’s Trump vs the Politicians."

So you don't care about the issues like his past support of universal health care? He's not a professional politician so he gets your vote. Swell, that's really thinking it through. Pardon me while I analyze each candidates positions and history of work on the issues I believe in. You go on believing the blather that comes out of that carnival barkers mouth.

The entire political system has been infected and prostituted out. From top to bottom. Those paying attention understand this and no longer trust any of them.

You should pay better attention.

"You should pay better attention."

You're getting pulled in by a snake oil salesman who was just a Democrat six years ago and has done little to nothing with his 9 billion dollars to advance conservative causes in his life. He's used his vast wealth to advance himself. Yet you say I should pay better attention? That's a laugh...

Party means nothing anymore. Again, you're clearly not paying attention.

since you are so in the know, what exactly has Donald Trump done (actions not words) that has inspired you to support him?

You have no need to explain anything to me because you have no defense of your cherished Donald Trump. You are a carnival barker just like he is. Say anything do anything to get inside my tent.

It is you who do not understand and who does not get it. You cannot argue on the facts because they are against you.

The only people who are mad at Trump for speaking the truth are those who are living a lie.

Take care.

I'm not mad at him. He can say whatever he wants. I'm mad at the countless idiots who are taken in by his sophistry. I shouldn't get too mad though, he's not going to be around for long. I predict he'll drop out before the Iowa Caucasus.
