CAFTA
6/13/2015 | tnmouth

Maybe some of you FREEPERS who bash Cruz for supporting TPA and who hold Jeff Sessions up as being a new hero for Americans....

Can you tell me WHY he supported CAFTA? Doesn't CAFTA give back door access to illegal immigration? Doesn't this hurt the American worker?

Inquiring minds want to know.

“Good luck. The Cruz bashers are out in force this week. What I would like to hear is just who their preferred alternative is. They’ve very quiet on that subject.”

I like Trump, if he runs. Perry seems to be okay. And any other candidate who is against the Obama agenda. That automatically eliminates Cruz, if you evaluate Cruz by his votes rather than by his rhetoric. Incidentally, I am unmoved by comments about Trump’s hair and ego.

Then, I guess no candidate EVER will fit your criteria. Cruz is as close as you will come.

I guess you don’t like Reagan either then?

Unfortunately many if not most Freepers do not believe in anything approaching Free Trade.

I saw a thread last night complaining about Steve King supporting trade because he wants to sell corn overseas. LOL

Apparently, if we hoard American produced goods and tax imports at 30 to 40 percent we're all going to become fabulously wealthy.......somehow.

I believe in Free Trade. Cruz said that the deal create jobs like it has done in TX. Last time I looked, he was the Senator from TX whose job it is to benefit his constituents. He did just that.

TPA and other of these agreements have been around for a long time...nobody has had the feigned outrage that this is getting now. And, the outrage is from people with an agenda.

Congress should NEVER cede power to the President...but, instead of saying “oh no! Let’s not give Obama power” why not do whatever you can to DEFEAT people like the GOP-e who allow him this power?

Free trade with the enemy. Is that a good thing?

I guess I believe it is as far as China is concerned.

Do we anticipate Chinese bombs raining down on Los Angeles? I don’t think so. Are we in a land war with China? Not as far as I can see.

China is not Mr. Nice Guy. They spy on us. We spy on them. They want to dominate the world economy. We stand in the way of that.

Should we shoot ourselves in the foot by restricting trade with China? Would we be safer if we did? The answer to both questions is NO.

I understand what you’re saying. I don’t have a plan B. Cruz was it for me. And I do recognize that others are using this as an opportunity to attack him in favor of other candidates who themselves would support this same thing. Its dishonest.

But its also dishonest to let this slide for fear of damaging Cruz.

I’m not happy about the whole “secret law” business, I’m not happy about the way its being rammed into law, I’m not happy about the immigration provisions. They say it doesn’t circumvent US law, but of course thats exactly what it does. It would be of dubious constitutionality regardless of who is president, but you could make a practical argument for fast-tracking a trade deal. But giving this kind of power to this president is disturbing.

Try and see beyond just Cruz. This is a bad deal. I expect this kind of thing from Boehner, McConnell, and Obama. It would be nice if someone could reply to the specifics and defend the trade deal on its specifics. But of course no one is allowed to comment on it. No one is allowed to reveal whats in it. Thats banana republic stuff.

WEll since we have Two crappy trade deals already in place that being NAFTA and CAFTA then lets applaud Cruz for wanting to let a Muzzie loving Commie fast track another even worse trade deal. Yeh that makes sense to me. Lets do it. :-)

Right, so Cruz was the only one who wanted to give Obama power?

Did you not read his response to this...or do you not care?

My guess is the latter.

Would you trust, say, President Jeb Bush with this power?

Obama will be gone in 18 months. We have a Congress. Stop him and it won’t be an issue.

China is not Mr. Nice Guy. They spy on us. We spy on them.

What China did was to steal information on American Citizens. It wasn't spying, it was theft. It was an overt act of WAR!

We won't retaliate because America is weak. China knows it and that is why they are hell bent on going to war with us.

Next stop, Taiwan. We won't do a damn thing about it.

I listened to Cruz’s response parts one and deux. I just didn’t buy it. He has likely derailed his presidential chances as most people are not buying it.

Is a Reagan running next year? If so, I’ll deal with that when he tosses his cowboy hat in the ring. However, until then, I’ll address the candidates we will have.
Seriously, why bring up a long dead president? How does he pertain to 2016? Heck, if we’re digging up the mouldered bones of presidents preferred I say, “Give me Jefferson or Give me Death!” Or maybe Jackson. He would deal effectively with the black insurgency/liberal treason we have in the country.

“They are cowards...they won’t say”

Pretty damned uppity to call anyone here a coward, opposing a candidate who is betraying the public trust.
We have not voiced an alternative candidate yet, since they appear to be very few political with integrity worthy of support.
Cruz, Walker, and anyone else in favor of Amnesty, and TPP / TPA are Not to be trusted!

There is NOTHING about this whole TPA, TPP, TAA, TIA whatever that cannot wait for 18 months.

Cruz said in an interview that the dems would never let a conservative pres have that power. That's why he's willing to let obammy have it for 18 months.

What majority does it need? My understanding is only a plurality. His answer is diverting.

Next time you are in the Ft. Meade Maryland area you should stop by the Headquarters of the National Security Agency and ask them if they are stealing information about Chinese citizens.

OK, they wouldn’t answer you but I will.

NSA will capture any and all information about both the public and private goings on in China and everywhere else in the world that they can. That’s the way the Intelligence Business works in the U.S. It works the same way in China.

Based on what he has written and said he has probably concluded it was a mistake. The data shows that these agreements result in higher trade deficits, lower GDP, lower wages and increased legal and illegal immigrants.

While I am a free trade sort the evidence seems conclusive that our leaders are piss poor negotiators.

It is still an act of war.

China is not our friend. China is our enemy.

Until we understand that fact, then we are doomed to lose the war.

“Good luck. The Cruz bashers are out in force this week. What I would like to hear is just who their preferred alternative is. They’ve very quiet on that subject.”

And now that Walker has also come out in favor of TPA, their silence on an alternative has become even more deafening. I think there are some that are legitimately angered by Cruz’s position on TPA but don’t yet know where else to go. But I think most of them are Rand Paul people trying to sow the seeds of distrust with Cruz.

I say this because Cruz so far has been a very big problem for the Paul campaign. Many of the Ron Paul diehards have come over to Cruz this cycle because of Rand’s vacillating nature and enthusiastic support of GOPe scumbag Mitch McConnell. They know that with all his baggage, it’s tough to directly advocate for Paul on FR, so they just tear down the candidate that threatens them the most.

Interestingly, I haven’t seen the same vitriol directed toward Walker since he came out in favor or TPA. Maybe the Paultards don’t see him as as much of a threat.

Cruz said in an interview that the dems would never let a conservative pres have that power. That's why he's willing to let obammy have it for 18 months.

That doesn't make it a constitutional authority.

Obama can make all the "trade agreements" he wants. That's his power under the Constitution.

NONE of those trade agreements are effective unless and until 2/3 of the Senate concur.

That is the power of Congress under the Constitution.

Ted Cruz is trying to do an end run around the Constitution by redefining a treaty and claiming it is a "trade agreement." All "trade agreements" between countries are "treaties."

It is clear that nearly no one in Washington gives a damn about what the Constitution says. Ted Cruz is now numbered among them.
