I don’t expect to agree with Cruz 100% of the time. Right now it’s running 85% to 90% and that’s a whole lot better than any other candidate. I’m still supporting Cruz.

Manipulation

The saddest part of this whole episode is how easily conservatives are manipulated and led like sheep. Just look at who populates these threads. Among the regular Freeps are the RINO troll army. They consist if the n00bs who "used to support Cruz" and the primary season Freeps who may have been here for years but only show up for primary season to raise "concerns" about conservatives.

It is interesting how quickly this infighting starts when the Romney people start joining the campaigns. Honestly, if conservatives are dumb enough to continue falling for this crap election after election, we really do deserve a Bush/Clinton race.

As far as the candidates/potential candidates are concerned, I haven't looked at them all but so far Perry, Walker and Jindal have all supported TPP or equivelent treaties.

Amid Secrecy, Rick Perry Retracts Obamatrade Support: ‘I Would Rather Barack Obama Not Be Negotiating for Me’

In May a spokesman for Perry told Breitbart News that he supports the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)—one of three largely secretive trade deals that would be fast-tracked by Trade Promotion Authority (TPA). But he’s changed his position.

TPP Proponents Close to Clinton Remain Optimistic About Her Support

Scott Walker had this to say.

Well, I talked about TTIP the other day in Germany in Hanover at the industrial fair there, and I think fair and open trade is a good thing on either side of the continent for the United States, whether it’s on the Atlantic or the Pacific. Obvious the details need to be worked out and there’s a lot of details including some specific to my state that need to be worked out. But I think in the end, having a deal that’s fair and offers fair and open trade would be a good thing for the United States and for our trading partners.

Bobby Jindal talks economic development, TPP with Taiwanese President Ma Ying-Jeou

While the negotiations were discussed, Plotkin said Jindal will take a position on the agreement when final terms are agreed to: "We are optimistic and hopeful about expanded trade with this part of the world. So we are hopeful about the TPP.

For those who are OK with trashing Cruz to protect your candidate, Just remember, those Romney people on the campaign WILL eat your candidate before they're done and despite any fantasies to the contrary, you won't be able to stop it.

And finally, Ted Cruz in his own words. (Starting at 52 minutes)

It's hidden under lock & key, most that support it haven't even read it.

I don't like all the secrecy. ...hiding something to avoid criticism.

‘Normalcy bias’.

Politicians whose states depend heavily on foreign exports are naturally going to look for expanded opportunity for businesses in their state.

The world didn’t always revolve around Barack Obama and soon won’t again.

Most politicians and journalists have financially comfortable lives and can’t imagine things otherwise for themselves and their families.

Cruz’s support of TPP shows that he is a stinking phoney,
just like the others. Conservatives were fooled by him.

"Anyone have clarity on this?"

Maybe I can help. All free trade agreement have protections built into them. On one hand there are "investor protections" designed to protect the investors from "creeping regulations", such as environmental regulations or labor regulations. For example: NAFTA Chapter 11 contains the investor protections. Politically speaking, the GOP is always going to push the investor protections because investors are GOP constituents.

OTOH, there will also be protections for labor, environment, social welfare, etc. The democrats always push the protections for labor and environment because they are dem constituents.

Cruz, like most GOPers, supports TPP because he thinks the investor protections in TPP are more than adequate.

OTOH, if you listen to Elizabeth Warren and the unions, they are complaining loudly because they think that the protections for labor and environment are inadequate and they think Obama is in bed with the GOP.

Meanwhile, there are the rightwing populists who are opposed to TPP because they see all free trade agreements as being an attack on US sovereignty and part of the New World Order. They say that the European Common Market(a FTA) led to the creation of the European Union and a common currency, and if the US participates in the FTAs, it can lead to the creation of something like the North American Union(NAU) and the creation of a common currency like the Amero dollar.

FReepers like to think that they know what is happening in politics but in reality many on this site are lazy gossips that do no research, but just pass on the meme of the moment, and go into a panic and frenzy.

Before all the "I used to love Cruz, but now he is an asshole" FReepers get their short hairs twisted around their own axle, just go do some basic research on what Cruz actually said on June 1, 2015 about TPA and TPP, because he is not selling us out.

If you think that Cruz is now the new enemy, because of a rumor that you never researched and is false, go vote for hildabutchbitch.

Ted Cruz is the most conservative candidate in modern history; considerably more conservative than Reagan in my opinion. No one will perfectly satisfy every conservative voter; are we really so fickle? If we bend and break in every breeze, expect many more Obamas in our future. I would support ANY of the more conservative candidates in the field. None are perfect, but they are much better than Hitlery.
