Residents that have lived on the Blanco River for decades had never seen the water reach levels like it did Saturday night.
This is the worst one Ive seen in 25 years, said Mark Western, a resident of Wimberley. The highest Mark had seen the water reach was touching the Ranch Road 12 bridge in 1998. This time the water went over it, taking houses and foundations with it.

I would never have dreamed that water would reach the top of that bridge!
Prayers for those that are suffering and have lost loved ones.
Texas
Just incredible. We went through the flood of ‘02, in the Hill Country...and it didn’t seem as bad as this.
Prayers for all...who’ve lost homes/property....and lives, in the area.
I hear more rain is in the forecast, for the area...tornados, too. The Blanco river is also forecasted to rise well above flood stage.
When you live next to a river, any river, you are taking your chances with flooding.
Texas tough people live here. From 1684 homes burned to the ground in the Bastrop wildfire of September 4-5, 2011, part of a vicious seven year drought that had the Wichita Falls area recycling sewage water for drinking water this spring, and now the incredible floods that have pounded 80% of the state in May...yet neighbors help neighbors, and Texans overcome these tragedies together. That’s what we love about Texas.
Those big developments on the upper right of the second picture appear to be downhill AND dry. Optical illusion? Or massive diking?
Godspeed.
massive tornado clouds firin up as we type and I mean massive
Looks like New Orleans after Katrina.
Makes you wonder why people would live in such flood prone areas.
Flood season in Texas.
Prayers up.
I keep hearing stories about how Texas is suffering from the terrible drought. Does this mean it’s over?
Yes. These recent rains/floods have ended our drought...according to all the weather folks.
Are you in the Wimberley area? Stay safe, wherever you are, ag.
I think there are some youtube videos of that apartment complex. There is at least 3 to 4 ft. of water in the parking lot.
apparently the water was 8 times higher than normal
Here, too. We'd moved everything up to higher ground and packed the vehicles to bug out. Continued to can pickles (priorities) and had my eye on a tree. Just as the last of the pickles were done, the water hit the tree and we were outta there to higher ground. When we came back the next day, several homes were flooded but we were fine though someone's kitchen cabinets were on our deck.
I've driven down the road to the low water crossing the past two days to make sure it's still accessible. The flood in '07 cut me off from getting home and hubby from getting out. That one took out the road to town and the road in the opposite direction.
