The U.S. Department of Agriculture is pushing back against a campaign criticizing First Lady Michelle Obamas school lunch rules by showing one picture of a somewhat appetizing childs lunch.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in the digital age we have ample opportunity to document and broadcast every moment, meeting and meal, wrote Deborah Kane, the national director of the USDA Farm to School Program, in a blog post Thursday.
We have all seen those unappetizing photos of food served at school that quickly go viral, she said. A lonesome whole wheat bun atop a sad fish fillet; a mysterious-looking meat mixture served next to an apple. Its natural to ask, Is this what they serve for lunch!?
No, its really not, Kane said.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Yeah....they’re using social media all right. Only it’s not to show how great their food is. They’re taking names for payback in them kids’ permament records!
Gov’t: Bugs are good for you. 6 year old meat is good for you. Low calorie meals that leave you hungry are good for you. etc. etc.
Hopefully the children won’t disappear.
and of course the tray is made of a special sustainable edible free range styrofoam
What position with the Dept of Ag was Michelle Obama elected or appointed to?
Why is she doing their bidding and vice versa?
We’re from the U.S.D.A. and we’re here to help.
Okay, clean up this barf.
Thanks. Now, get lost!
Will .gov post pics of the lunches enjoyed by prez’ kids @ Sidwell Friends’ School caterteria?
I’m sure you’re right. It is what it is and a picture will not change what the kids already know to be true.
Picking a fight when you are outnumbered 100,000 to 1? Brilliant!
1. The children found bugs, and the food is hated.
=> That must be enough for the feds
to insist the poor children to EAT it.
USDA: “Who you gonna believe, us or your lying eyes?”
Ministry of Propaganda? I’d say this is messing with the Free Press and should be considered Unconstitutional.
More evidence, as if any were needed, tat the Federal Department of “education” needs to be shut down completely.
FedGuv should never have been in the school lunch business in the first place.
When I was a kid in San Antonio, the favorite meal of the week was Mexican food every Wednesday. Every school in town served the same thing on that day.
The main entree was plain ol cheese enchiladas and they were the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Paired with a side of pinto beans, it was heaven on earth, but the best was yet to come.
The next day if they had any leftovers, those were even better since they’d had a day to set in the sauce. I’d eat a double portion.
Probably can’t serve them today.
Her blog has about a dozen posts on it since she was appointed head in 2012, with the last one being last year. Now she’s suddenly found the time to blog? More like ordered IMO.
