Preacher Huckabee throws first GOP-on-GOP punches of 2015, hitting Ted Cruz, Rand Paul & Jeb Bush

* Arkansas evangelical politician played hardball with early jabs at primary competitors
* Hit Cruz for signing up for Obamacare, Paul for trying to run for Senate and President at the same time, and Bush for being part of a political 'dynasty'
* Tech glitches plagued Huckabee's rollout, including a campaign website that flickered and failed and C-SPAN audio that went haywire
* Slogans include 'Hope to Higher Ground' and the Eisenhower-throwback line 'I Like Mike'

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee threw the first punches on Tuesday against other Republican presidential candidates, ending a brief spring of comity among conservatives who all want the chance to oppose Hillary Clinton in the 2016 general election.

Huckabee, an ordained Baptist minister, elbowed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush without naming them – and threw in a shot at Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton for good measure.

Less than 90 minutes after Cruz issued a welcoming message of respect, 'Huck' lashed out at him for a plan to put his family on Affordable Care Act-sanctioned medical insurance after years of railing against the Obamacare plan.

'Instead of helping families find affordable health care, we created a monster that forces us to buy coverage we don't want, don't need, and can't afford,' Huckabee told a crowd gathered in his hometown of Hope, Arkansas. 'And imagine members of Congress boasting they will fight to repeal Obamacare and then turning around and signing up for it!'

Cruz had extended a different kind of gesture earlier in the morning, naming all three Republicans who officially threw their hats into the ring in a stretch of just 28 hours

'The entry of three more candidates into the 2016 GOP primary this week is terrific news for our party...

Its mighty tempting to throw my support behind the huckster. I mean the guy is super compassionate with felons and we need a justice system that gives lots of mercy to convicted rapists.

Unfortunately, misguided Evangelicals will swoon over Huckster and split the vote and give Jebbers the nomination to be Hillary’s sacrificial lamb.

That's the plan.

It’s sad but true. You have some Evangelicals who want to dictate behaviors and intervene in people’s personal lives. I am clearly talking about those who want to use the power of the federal government to change one’s lifestyle. They are no better than leftists doing the same but from the opposite political spectrum.

Huckster represents the perfect candidate for them, basically a European Christian Democrat.

We already got us a preacher as president, no thanks.
Huckabee let go somebody, while governor, that did some more bad things once released, like those released by BHO, no thanks.
Huckabee tried his hand at a TV show, just like every TV speech by BHO, no thanks.
Huckabee is a has been ... ‘ i coulda been a contenduh’, no thanks.
Huckabee’s ideas are not fresh and new. They are tired, old, stale. No thanks.

I don’t like Huckabee, but I don’t like Cruz or Paul or Bush either. I wish they’d all back off on the Evangelical thing and just tell us some good political or defense or tax or anti-Obamacare policies for this country.

Because what the GOP really needs most is another circular firing squad instead of leaders pressing for the prosecution of Hillary for her crimes.

Sign of a desperate candidate, and his campaign isn’t 24 hours old.

I guess Huckabee either did not hear or did not listen to Rush’s unsolicited advice to not attack each other but use Hillary for the punching bag.
Big mistake Mr. Huckabee. Very big mistake.

I don’t really have one yet. People are complaining about “too many candidates,” but I actually think that’s a good thing at this point. They’ll shake out pretty soon and there will be only a few, but at least the RINO establishment won’t be able to impose their candidate that easily (as has happened in the last two elections).

I like Jindal, but he hasn’t announced and I don’t think he could get support. I like Fiorina, but the press hates her and has ignored and suppressed her, but now that she’s announced, they’re going to try to Palinize her - meaning, make her look like a silly conservative broad who has this crazy idea that she can compete with the Dem big dogs.

I like Walker, also, but I wish he hadn’t gotten into the religion thing, because his ideas and performance were good enough to stand without trying to cultivate any particular groups. I realize that bloc voting (successfully used by the Dems with their captive black and female voters) is all the rage, but I actually think that this model is going to change, and probably even in this election. It might be much more about ideas than identity.

I also read that Rick Snyder is considering a run. I don’t know much about him other than his performance, which was good...any ideas?

Huckabee isn’t very smart...

Cruz signed up so he can tell it like it is as one who has experienced it. In addition it gives him legal standing. Not all that complicated.

CRUZ or lose! That’s my idea. No nambypamby inclusive big tent reach across the aisle garbahge, just pure solid unapologetic conservatism like Reagan believed.
