Marco Rubio said he believes that sexual preference is decided at birth, but still believes that states should be able to decide if they want to define marriage as anything other than involving a man and a woman.
"It's not that I'm against gay marriage. I believe the definition of the institution of marriage should be between one man and one woman," Rubio said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation." "States have always regulated marriage. And if a state wants to have a different definition, you should petition the state legislature and have a political debate. I don't think courts should be making that decision."
"I don't believe same-sex marriage is a Constitutional right," Rubio added. "I also don't believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for the vast and enormous majority of people. In fact...I believe that sexual preference is something that people are born with."
Rubio sparked a debate on the issue last week after he said in an interview with Fusion's Jorge Ramos that he would attend the same-sex wedding of a gay family member or staffer even if he would "disagree with a choice they've made."
With that statement, Marco Rubio won the homosexual vote and lost mine and others. Question is how many people won’t now vote for him.
Tell it to the One Who made you, Senator.
Rubio was already out before he was ‘in’ as far my vote goes.
Rand Paul's immigration speech...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.[Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg]
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reformLatinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...[Posted on 04/21/2013 1:52:42 PM PDT by SoConPubbie]
[but he's not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.[Posted on 01/31/2013 5:08:50 PM PST by xzins]
Another RINO trying to play us for chumps.
LOL- how true.
Personally, I have no issue being against same sex marriage because I do NOT believe you're "born that way", and I believe that SSM is a perversion of the Biblical intent of marriage.
He’s trying to tap dance around the truth. Stick a fork in him, he’s done, unless somebody picks him as as their running mate. Also stick a fork in Kasich who came out and said he had no problem at all with attending a sodomite “marriage” and he thinks it’s the greatest thing in the world. Want to hear the words of a RINO? Here ya go...
“I went home and I said to my wife, ‘My friend’s getting married. What do you think? You wanna go?’ She goes, ‘Oh, I’m absolutely going.’ I called him today and said, ‘Hey, just let me know what time it is,’” Kasich said, according to the report. “My friend knows how I feel about the issue, but I’m not here to have a war with him. I care about my friend, and so it’s pretty simple for me.”

Urgent: Rate Obama on His Job Performance. Vote Here Now!
Born that way hell. There are upteen thousands of women who lived the lesbian lifestyle for years, then came to their senses and married a man, settled down with that man, and had a household full of kids. There are also many women who left their husband after being married for years and having a household full of kids, when they “discovered” they were lesbian. The same thing happens with many “homosexuals”, men who were married for years, had a house full of kids, then all the sudden left their wife for a man when they were well up into their 50s and 60s.
No one is born homosexual. It is a learned trait. That’s why this entire same-sex “marriage” debate is the biggest bunch of BS in the world. And that’s exactly how any GOP candidate should answer the question. Rubio is a hypocrite, playing to the audience to try and not piss off anyone. He has no credibility whatsover.
I agree.
A lot remains to be learned, but potentially I can see Walker / Fiorina or vice versa... Cruz / Fiorina...etc. ?
And like I said in another thread in the Religion Forum, he may think he’s Catholic but he’s not.
The point is “born that way” or not, its irrelevant and even hypocrtical for gay to use as a justification then say different on trangender.
that being said..”born that way” is just mostly an excuse for political reason that most gays know is a lie..
In a national election ticket for president and veep, little old me would bring in more popular support and state electoral votes than she would if she was slated for either spot.
Shirley you jest, LOL.
(However, I LOVE to hear her pithy comments in the Hillary-bashing role she's playing right now. She's good!)

I’d have to agree with Rubio that it does seem to be a function of the time in utero. It’s just that you can’t test for it, nor can you know if a little boy or girl, even if their preferences for toys might be opposite gender types, will be oriented sexually to the same sex at puberty or not. Toy choice seems to mean something but not everything.
One day we may find that these aberrations are from something hormonal, maybe even due to some environmental influence.... But probably whenever something went wrong it was indeed before birth, at least for most, maybe some people do choose or are imprinted by early abuse.
The orientation might not be a choice, but what you do about it is.
I get a feeling when watching Rubio: “flaky, not grounded, opportunist, huckster.”
If elected, he would NOT: convert us to REAL MONEY, remove abortion from the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, CLOSE the borders, REPEAL the 16th and 17th amendments.
