Why is former U.S. President Andrew Jackson still on the $20 bill, as opposed to suitable candidates like Rosa Parks, Betty Friedan, or Sojourner Truth?
Sure, the 7th President of the United States may have been a decorated Revolutionary War hero, who helped to defeat the invading British as a major general in the War of 1812, but as President, Jackson oversaw a lot of herculean accomplishments. Are they still relevant?
Two centuries later, is the decorated Hero of New Orleans still worthy of decorating our currency? Thats a question being asked by actress Susan Sarandon, along with other gender equality advocates, as part of the Women on 20s campaign, which is determined to have Old Hickory replaced on the $20 bill by one of 15 prominent women the group has chosen from Americas past.
Sarandon supported the movement Tuesday when she posted a photo of herself holding some cash on Twitter:
The groups website reads: Women On 20s aims to compel historic change by convincing President Obama that NOW is the time to put a womans face on our paper currency. But who should it be? We believe thats for you, the public, to decide from a slate of 15 inspiring American women heroes.
So why kick old King Mob off of the bill? According to the group, not only was Jackson a racially motivated warmonger, responsible for killing countless Native Americans, but he was also an opponent of the central banking system.
Women on 20s is asking visitors to vote on which historical female icon should take Jacksons place on the double sawbuck. Names include Eleanor Roosevelt, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Barbara Jordan, Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman and Susan B. Anthony, to name a few.

Sara Palin?
Sarandon is bored
Or Rosa Parks.
Fine. Jeanne Kirkpatrick
I want Susan Sarandon replaced with a woman.
“Women On 20s aims to compel historic change by convincing President Obama..”
Takes an act of congress. So.....no.
How about B. Hussein Obama?
“Why is former U.S. President Andrew Jackson still on the $20 bill, as opposed to suitable candidates like Rosa Parks, Betty Friedan, or Sojourner Truth?”
Phyllis Schafly
Susan B. Anthony was already on the $1 coin.
Could there any doubt the woman she would to see on the 20 dollar bill is Susan Sarandon.
Well if an washed-up has-been actress wants a woman on the $20 bill, that settles it for me.
Let’s see...Jeane, Kirkpatrick, Sara Palin, Ayn Rand?
Any of those should work for big mouth.
Well, he was a Democrat..........
Well, I suppose that if our westward expansion stopped at the Mississippi River, we would not have been able to add California as a state.
Darn that effective army.
“JUST SAY NO” to these rebellious women who want to usurp the man’s role in this world.
Women are unhappier now than they ever were because they’ve lost their way in the morass of the anti-family, anti-marraige popular culture.
Geez Louise, I thought you were dead.
I believe all our paper currency carries the picture of PRESIDENTS, perhaps susie q could tell us which woman president she would like to replace him with, One that has already served that is. Considering what a little bitch obama is, I guess she could go with him.
Aren’t $20 bills associated with a certain type of woman?
Lets rename Pennsylvania Avenue to Fundamental Change Blvd, and the Capitol Mall to Hope n' Change Park while we're at it.
Commies are all the same.
