In a preview of the 2016 campaign, all five late night comics on Monday night mocked Ted Cruz, hitting the Republican as anti-immigrant, regressive and stupid. CBS host David Letterman didn't bother with a joke. Instead, he lectured, "Here's what I find interesting about Ted Cruz, he was born in Canada. His father fled to the United States from Cuba. Yet, Ted Cruz is against immigration. Isn't that odd?"
He then sneered, "Ted Cruz could be president of the United States and if you thought the Secret Service was drinking before –" On TBS, Conan O'Brien hammered, "[Cruz] pledged to lead America boldly forward into the late 1950s."
Regarding the senator's opposition to amnesty, O'Brien noted that Cruz's first commercial was in Spanish and sneered, "Cruz said it's important for me to reach out to the people I'm trying to deport."

I don’t see this having any effect on Cruz. The stupid will remain stupid and the rest of us already know they’re stupid.
Once Cruz gets the chance to define himself to the people, instead of his enemies, they will be blown away and realize that everything they thought they knew about him was wrong.
This is why Cruz was smart to start the process early.
Palin was essentially unknown nationally until the R convention, which came only 2 months before election day.
The MSM was able to totally write her story.
Cruz will have 10 months to campaign before primary election season even begins.

I had some sympathy for O’Brien when he lost his show a few years ago.

Who is this Daveed Lettermunn of whom you speak? I seem to recall a slightly humorous young man by a similar name about 40 years ago. His career seemed to come to a close when he propositioned several of his female staff years ago. Is this the same man? Is he trying to make a come back after serving time? I don’t now this Daveed Lettermunn of whom you speak.

I haven’t watched late night TV since Jay Leno was retired.
