A change in policy issued by the Army Friday evening will make it harder to dismiss transgender soldiers, according to advocate groups.
Various media outlets reported on the new directive.
The Army issued a directive Friday that protects transgender soldiers from being dismissed by mid-level officers by requiring the decision for discharge to be made by the services top civilian for personnel matters, reported USA Today. The Armys new policy is the latest indication that the militarys ban on transgender troops may be eased or even lifted.
USA Today was the first news outlet to report the possibility of a change in the way the Army handles the dismissal of transgender troops.
In essence, the announcement [on Friday] places a moratorium on dismissals by requiring officers to explain their decision to discharge a transgender soldier to a high-ranking civilian leader, a move many would view as potentially damaging to their careers, explained USA Today. The Pentagon took the same tack when it backed away from its Dont Ask, Dont Tell policy that banned gay and lesbian troops. It required a review of decisions to discharge gay troops by the departments top lawyer and service secretaries, and no further dismissals occurred.
The Army downplayed the recent change.
According to the service branch, the new directive does not change the policy toward transgender people, who are barred from serving in the military....

Can you blame them?
And The Secretary of the Air Force, a woman appointed by King Putt, said recently that if any USAF officers want to be promoted, especially to command rank, they must embrace diversity.
When I served in the USAF back in the day (1970-1974) our primary mission was to kill our nations enemies and destroy his physical assets and his cities. I guess we were just being silly back then.
how many transgender soldiers.... three? five?
What does operational readiness matter? Morale? Logistics? Which group showers will they go into, do they get to choose?
How on Earth did we suddenly become Transsexual America the last few months.
It’s called hope and change.
What’s that word; rhymes with fag; something about a mis-placed grenade?
Meanwhile the VA and TriCare will be suspended for vets and other retirees...
Do we still have an army? or has our army(and navy and air force) become a troupe of mimes and performance “artists”?
None of this will be changed no matter who is elected president, no mater the composition of the Congress. It is some sort of natural law, I think, that these things only run in one direction until the system is conquered from without or just comes all apart. Liberals will push the absurdities to uberabsurdity and conservatives will be afraid of appearing uncompassionate.
Because of Mike in the white mosque?
OVR stands for “OVER” - as in What the F***, Over?
As in a radio transmission response to something ludicrous, end of statement, waiting your reply ... Example:
“Obama is still in power? WTF?-Over”
There is an Air Force base in Florida where the head of the mental health department is a dude that wears a dress to work. Think how messed up that is to the troops that have to go see it.
When I was in the USAF, and we used Morse, “over” was the letter “K”.
Thanks for explaining the acronym.
Because the Left pushed DADT in the military, and stupid conservatives accepted it as a "reasonable compromise." All this was is a foot in the door to turn the military completely gay.

Absolutely, if it ever existed in the first place.
