The Veterans Affairs secretary lied about serving in the special forces, a report in the Huffington Post alleges.
"Robert McDonald, the secretary of veterans affairs, wrongly claimed in a videotaped comment earlier this year that he served in special operations forces, the most elite units in the armed forces, when his military service of five years was spent almost entirely with the 82nd Airborne Division during the late 1970s," the report reads.
U.S. special operations forces (SOF) are composed of exhaustively trained and highly capable troops from each military service, including the Green Berets, Army Rangers, Delta Force and Navy SEALs -- but not the 82nd Airborne. They are certified to undertake the most dangerous and delicate missions, including, famously, the killing of Osama bin Laden in May 2011. Special operators are a close-knit community deeply hostile to outsiders who try to claim the coveted mantle of special operations.

Gov of CT lied about serving and he got elected and if that doe snot prove how dumb voters are up there I don’t know what is.
worked with the 82nd over in Sardinia in the 80’s and I found nothing special about them compared to the some marine units I worked with.
What an idiot, more Stolen Valor from the Regime.
They want to steal everything not just Valor.
Back in the 70s I believe Airborne was considered one of the ‘special forces’.

I was in the 101st Airborne in 1967 and we were not considered special forces. That was reserved for Green Berets and Rangers.
In 1968 I joined The Redcatchers of the 199th Light Inf. and they had a Ranger unit and a LRP Unit.

The rest of us Redcatchers were just Air Mobile (=We Were Soldiers= type) grunts, a lot of us had Airborne jump wings, but were not Special Forces. Of course testosterony 18 year olds like I was at the time all thought we were badasses :-)

Airborne units are guys who are all graduates of Jump School.
They get extra pay for jumping out of airplanes.
It's usually a prerequisite for getting into Special Forces that you be Airborne qualified, but it's definitely NOT the same thing.

My mom was an operator. I always laugh when commandos started calling themselves that. Now commando means wearing no panties, and the men are calling themselves “operators”
Those groups of special forces are so tight together and not many of them, anyone would be a fool to try to claim membership in one of those groups. Much too easy to be found out.
I am not in special forces but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. (No, I didn’t.)
Joking aside, anyone in the 82nd gets a tip of the Drill chapeau. SOF, maybe not, but just about as good as it gets. No Brian Williams, to be sure...

Tell me, can anyone in government ever tell the truth? The RATs are especially “good at lying to build their personal resumes.” And usually, it’s about their “military service” or about “dodging bullets as civilians” which turn out to be fabrications. The truth of the matter is that they are all scared $hitless of real fighting, but they have their Walter MItty complexes that prompt them to lie about “being real men.”
Since this attack was put out through the Democrat Party organ of the HuffPost, he must not be toeing Obama’s line close enough on something.
There may be repercussions if he doesn’t ‘get his mind straight’ on whatever it is.
