LifeNews is showing a video of a system in 3 transport crates, with lettering in English, that was found in a wrecked Kiev encampment in Debaltseve. I believe it was the 40th Regiment's HQ.

They don't really show it well, but my guess is that it could be a Sat Communications System. Others on another website are saying it's likely a US Counter-Mortar Radar.
I thought the wealth of knowledge on FR might be able to answer this question?

Laser designator? An old one.
Ok...
Someone on another website says it is an AN/TPQ-49 Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR)
Can anyone confirm or deny?
Oh it’s a Mark 4 Russian Pig and Putin Ass Licker Killer.
Anybody ever heard of OPSEC?
Solar powered hibachi with auxilary power for boom box?
What OPSEC?
It’s all over the internet now.
Mail buoy. Man, I used to search for those things for hours!
Yep thanks to dipsh*ts like you and Air Farce personnel that don’t think they’re really in a military branch. If I had pulled crap like this during the Cold War Article 15 was in my future.
Looking more like a U.S. Counter-Mortar Radar:
SCR Systems LCMR promo Video for it on youtube:
"If classified information should be disclosed to the public, through publication in the mass media or through other means, its classification status does not change. It is still classified information."
One of the things I remember from my SECRET briefing.
While I’m not too familiar with counter mortar systems, I do know that the crate is too small for the unit. That said, each crate might contain components to assemble. It’s not a small unit, but can be static on the ground, or mobile attached to a HMMWV.
Back in the day, counter battery was integrated in the bed of a deuce and a half.

That’s me setting up my hog feeder/game camera.
You should see them hogs tumble when I hit them with the Ma Duce!
“All over the Internet” is different from properly identified by someone knowledgeable.
We don’t need to add reliable information to such discussions. That’s like disclosing the code name for Al Qaeda’s top mole in our government (it’s Papa-Oscar-Tango-Uniform-Sierra, but announcing that might helps someone with access to other information to figure out who the terrorist spy really is).
