Strike Two, Marko ...Homeland Security didn’t shut down the last time it was “defunded” because everybody in it was declared exempt and too important for national security. Geez, do these people have no concept of history? ... even RECENT history?

DHS was designed to be the central point for all the separate agencies but once again it turned into another over-bloated Government Bureaucracy.
It was also supposed to be self-funding through airport fees and airline taxes but once again it became taxpayer supported.
There is obviously a collective on the left. They communicate, plan, and achieve.
On the right, we have a bunch of cats heading in different directions.
One guy goes up to a microphone and says what we believe. (Cruz) Other guys goes up to a microphone and go fuzzy on everything. (Rubio and Bush) And then you have the ballistic missile aimed at the heart of Conservatism. (John McCain)
The Left uses the same phrases on one single day.
We can’t get one day like that in 30 years.
DHS has 231,000 workers and a little over 200,000 of them are considered essential and will continue working no matter what. When the budget is passed, they will get back pay including OT.
He (Levin) says that is the part Rubio doesn't seem to understand and he is intimidated knowing that Obama will veto anything he doesn't like.
What I got from both statements is that Rubio may be falling for beltway hype.

83% are essential and have to work and will eventually be paid. All positions considered ‘national security’ are ‘essential’ and will have to work no matter what.
Cancel Homeland Security and call up the Militia. Isn’t that why we have a Militia?
