Eight suicide bombers managed Friday to get onto a sprawling Iraqi military base where hundreds of U.S. Marines are training their Iraqi counterparts, but were killed by an ISF counter attack almost immediately.

Noting planned though. Just random act of armed insurgents right? There are no terrorists, just misguided zealots who read the koran wrong. Or something. Heads up Marines. Lock and load.
Random workplace violence.

:-D
OOrah... Live Fire Exercise.
Way to go, boys...!!!
Funny Fox doesn’t seem to think it is important enough to have prominently placed on website.
Yes it is .. and has been for several hours.
What website are you looking at ..????????
http://www.foxnews.com/ - Don’t see it
No, rules of engagement probably said that the Marines had to set down with them over tea and convince them of the errors of their ways
Well .. it was there last night.
One possible reason it may have been removed .. to protect our Marines who might possibly be involved in another skirmish .. I’ve seen FOX do that before. Besides, if you’re so against FOX .. then why are you even going to their website ..?? Illogical to me.
Apparently the base has been under attack since at least last October.
I needed to read it more than once to understand that it was the eight suicide bombers who were killed by an ISF counter attack, and not hundreds of U.S. Marines.
Anyone else have as much of a problem reading this sentence? (I'd suggest that Columbia U might have as many QC problems creating journalists who can write coherently as it has creating US Presidents who can govern the nation at all.)
:^) Even that wouldn’t end well for those people on the other side...
These are Marines, after all; when the Corps comes out to play, bad things happen for the other team.
I am not against Fox.
Marines never retreat, they merely advance in a different direction — particularly when under the command of “Bailout Ace” Soetero.
“Besides, if youre so against FOX .. then why are you even going to their website ..?? Illogical to me.”
And going to CBS News isn’t, to you that is? Just went
to http://www.foxnews.com/ at 1:36 pm Texas time and
still no mention.
I arrived at the job site one morning, and a few of the Marines were ribbing one of their buddies. Seems he had detected 3 sappers trying to come onto the base from the north, the night before, and the guard spotted them from the tower he was in, killing all three. He was pretty stoked about it, but was reminded by his superiors to keep it on the down low (no end zone celebrating) but since I was a fresh face that morning, the Marine's buddies made sure I knew and were more than happy and willing to spread the good news. The young Marine was all smiles... word about base attacks spread like wildfire, so I already knew about the attempted breech. It was a moment I enjoyed that morning, by being allowed to share in the Marine fraternity. We did some fist bumping, hand shaking and oorah-ing, out of sight of the Marine's superiors... and damn it felt good.
Said 8 attackers, might have been smoked on approach to the base, inside the serpentine arranged concrete road barriers leading up to the gate, just inside the gate, or further on the base. There would have been automatic weapons including anti armor weapons manned in a watch tower, and on the ground. It'll be interesting to see where the firefight (if that's what it was) took place.
It's good to see that ISF took the attackers out.
LOL I tend to read the news positively and if we had lost one Marine if would have been in the headline.
They were probably there to sign up for covered California but instead got covered with dirt.
