U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry honored the memory of a Jordanian pilot tortured to death by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in finally calling the group by its Middle Eastern, regional Arabic name: Daesh.
The radical Islamic terror group that swallowed massive territory in Syria and Iraq and is penetrating into Europe, the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza, already has had many names. [ ]
Kerry went on to detail how each week brings new examples of how far the evil of these extremist groups reaches. Daeshs execution of a captured Jordanian pilot by burning him alive is a new level of depravity. And far from hiding such a despicable act, they posted a video of it for all the world to see. And last week, the UN reported the horrifying ways that Daesh treats even its most vulnerable captivescrucifying children; burying children alive; handpicking mentally challenged children to serve as suicide bombers and kill even more innocent people. This is what were up against.

Sounds like a punctuation assertion: “If you like your Daesh, you can keep your Daesh—period.”
We should remember that John Kerry's first diplomatic job, long before this U.S. State Dept gig., was as a wartime emissary for North Vietnam and the communist Viet Cong.
He met with their officials in Paris, France (where he was ostensibly on his honeymoon) and then returned to the USA to hammer forth the communists' negotiating points at rallies, in the media, and before congress.
And of course his second diplomatic posting came during his time in the Senate, when he faithfully represented the interests of the Nicaraguan Sandinistas to the U.S. government.
I believe the reasoning to not use ISIS or ISIL is, as you suggested, to keep people from being constantly reminded that they are ISLAMIC.
I guess the White House is done calling them the “JV” squad, then?
“The radical Islamic terror group that swallowed massive territory in Syria and Iraq and is penetrating into Europe, the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza, already has had many names. [ ]”
That put the hairs up on the back of my neck.
I am sure that DAESH word usage is no accident ,
especially since the name change occurred behind closed doors
after last weeks White House meeting with Muslum Leadership.
ISIS/Daesh is ISLAMIC
Killing and Conquest of your neighbor is Islamic, and is so stated in the Koran.
You can change the word , but after all is said , a turd is still a turd.
This is just Obama trying to give legitimacy to ISIS by giving them a name like we give countries. In effect, Obama is recognizing ISIS as a country.
It's true and ISIS doesn't like it. I'm also surprised to hear John Heinz use it.
He'll hear from his betters soon.
Please, someone helps us! What doofuses (doofi?) we have in the White Hut.
I prefer ISIS, for what I think would be the obvious reason that it probably annoys them no end to be referred to by the name of a pagan deity.
They probably picked that up from watching "American Sniper."
Read recently that the term daesh is derogatory.
(((
I read that, as well. It was in an article that someone posted on FR within the last several days. I recall that the piece was describing the response of Jordanians who were demonstrating in the streets. One of them was said to have used the term, and the writer of the piece said that it was derogatory.

I’d say you connected the dots quite well there. So the name change is on orders from Obamugabe’s overlords.
If they are “hijacking” Islam, then they are apostates and blasphemers. Which carries the death penalty under Sharia.
So, I’m OK with that.
I thought I read somewhere that the powers-that-be in ISIL hate the term Daesh. So maybe the administration is doing something right for a change? No doubt by accident, but right.
I think we see through Obama’s motive...call them except “islamic” or “muslims”
