Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told reporters Tuesday that the vaccination issue "is largely silliness stirred up by the media. Nobody reasonably thinks Chris Christie is opposed to vaccinating kids other than a bunch of reporters who want to write headlines." CBS News' John Nolen reports that Cruz went on to say, "This question has historically been decided at the state level. And most states choose to do what the state of Texas does which is to mandate vaccines for children to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases." A statement he released noted that most states make exceptions for good-faith religious convictions, "But on the question of whether kids should be vaccinated, the answer is obvious, and there's widespread agreement: of course they should."
And another senator considering a presidential run, Marco Rubio, R-Florida, also believes that measles vaccinations should be "absolutely" mandatory for children, medical exceptions aside. Rubio mentioned that his grandfather was "disabled by polio as a young child." And he warned, "If enough people are not vaccinated, you put at risk infants that are three months of age or younger,...and you put at risk immune- suppressed children that are not able to get those vaccinations."
Other potential 2016 presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Dr. Ben Carson also added their voices to the debate over vaccinations. Clinton Tweeted Monday evening, "The science is clear: The earth is round, the sky is blue, and #vaccineswork. Let's protect all our kids. #GrandmothersKnowBest"

It is a fake issue.
The vaccine kooks are mainly rich liberals - Hillary supporter types.
But the Dems are trying to somehow smear anyone who doesn’t accept global warming as on the same par.
Its too early for me.
Right now I don't see how Cruz gets the GOP nomination, maybe for the same reasons he is liked here. Shutdowns and such.
” Right now I don’t see how Cruz gets the GOP nomination, “
Oh heck, neither do I. I suspect we will nominate someone like a Romney, like Jeb. That will probably be the end of America as we (used) to know it.
How about Christie?
He's protecting our kids from vaccines.
Nice to see someone who gets it.
Drama instead of the real issue, illegal aliens who brought the disease in.
Exactly correct.
You and Cruz are exactly right.
Correct. Disease once thought eradicated is showing up because of the unfettered illegal aliens. And when the media finds out that aging liberal hippies and not “tea party fundies” are behind the anti-vaccine movement, this will all stop.
Major problem caused by liberal/leftist immigration policies causing eradicated disease to re-appear. Leftist tactic, reframe the problem as a “crisis” needing central authoritarian solution, get after a straw-man, those who avoid wholesale vaccine usage as the false cause, and claim that conservatives don’t “care” about the “children.”
Classic leftist media tactic to create a controversy and blame Republicans as though they have been in charge the last six years while Obama has flooded the country with immigrants.
I think you and I understand it perfectly — deflection from their dereliction.
Anyway the MSM can link this to the “war on women”

—yes—
He got some grief on this thread,
Cruz:"Legal immigration is a fundamental pillar of our nation's heritage, and I was pleased today to offer legislation that would have improved and expanded legal immigration by dramatically increasing the cap for high-tech temporary worker visas. This amendment would not only improve the current system, but would also encourage economic growth and create new jobs in America. There is currently a serious shortage of workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, yet every year we send thousands of high-tech graduate students back to their home countries to start businesses and create jobs. This makes no sense. Im disappointed in the committees vote to reject expanding high-tech immigration. Although the Gang of Eight's bill makes a modest step towards improving high-tech immigration, it does not go nearly far enough. There is no reason to arbitrarily cap high-tech visas at 110,000 when these jobs are going unfilled. We need economic growth here and now.
Sen. Cruz Presents Measure to Strengthen, Improve Legal Immigration (SENATOR CRUZ OFFICE ^ | 14 MAY 2013 | SENATOR CRUZ PRESS RELEASE)
India has already taken over my neighborhood. They don't even say 'hi'. Definitely a plus for businesses.
Absolutely. Totally correct. Every word you said.
If you look at where these outbreaks occur, almost all of them, with some exceptions, occur in illegal alien communities.
The latest deflection is this Disneyland measles case. I have already read articles blaming this on anti-vaxxers (Forbes for example), when there is not a single shred of evidence claiming so. In fact, the first reports is that it most likely came from overseas. But don't let the facts get in the way...
And yes, we both see eye to eye on this and can see clearly through their shell game.
These folks seem to disagree
Our perfect candidate ??? Got to by GOPe ??? OHHHNOOOS LOL
You know, prior to the vaccine, measles killed about 1 in 2,000 or even sometimes 1 in 2,500. For a better idea, the flu killed more during those times then measles, and it still kills thousands of people every year.
I am not sure we even know how all the numbers play out, besides some children a few months old who couldn’t have received the shots yet.
